    Solar Cycle, Evolution of memory..

I was talking to some people about an idea I had about human long-term memory. I believe astrology has the human condition fairly correct. Yet instead of pull on the earth by gravitational forces of the heavens. The answer is more climate based.

As the weather is cooler people stay in, weather is hotter they go out affecting social patterns in people based on when they are born. The memory of events then directly affects a persons personality so.. The new add on..

I saw this guy talking about a patent who’s long term memory was affected from an accident. What they found was that most memory that is reused it will be committed to long term after 11 years..

Now I also remember a bit about 11 year solar cycle…

    Earth cycles …
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles

Whole idea is that perhaps the solar cycle has something to do with how diverse our climate is and so we evolved our learning patterns due to nature.

I know this is slightly speculative but the connection is a strong indication of how we may have evolved our long-term memory. I figure the answer is most likely in nature and this seems to fit the bill.

    Were in Solar Cycle 24.

If I can part from your subject matter for a couple of seconds. I will read your links and return later...promise....smiles...

On April 3rd, SOHO spacecraft spotted a cloud of charged particles called a coronal mass ejection (CME) shooting from the Sun at 500 kilometers per second. This velocity suggested the front would reach Earth in roughly three days.

Something happened yesterday in the skies over this city. My young grandson saw it and said it was like a magnificent flash that came out of the sky. It scared the little fellow, he ran in to tell everyone and some people laughed....a couple of seconds later the entire electrical grid of the western part of this city went down and was down for several hours...then more interruptions again today further west of this city..

One scientist said another earthquake could follow all this....

    Regards Mikal
If I see a train coming and your on the track...if I don't tell you, it will be a pity for you and a shame on me....

You Know GB...its very strange but Carl Jung said man has the whole of human history locked in his brain. I noticed that particular statement because when I experienced evolution of my own consciousness I expressed it as, I had an earthquake and almost drowned in a flood. That was a very strange way to recount what I was experiencing and then when I began to study all the research into Atlantis I very much had a strange reaction and then I wondered if what C. Jung said was quite true...just one of those strange experiences in life we explain more in images than explanation in words...

PS....it just came down in the headlines....7.8 Mag. Quake Hits Sumatra early, early morning....

Its strange what cycles we develop. Watching TV last night ... a doco ... that said when 'East Enders' a popular soap TV show in England finishes at 6:30 every night ... within the next 5 mins the demand on the electrical grid goes up by x amount of megawatts ..... The operators even have a TV in the control room so they can react instantly to the demand ... sometimes the show runs over and they have to wait to switch in the extra turbines.

As everybody in England turns on their kettles to make their tea, even France supplies some of the shortfall to the grid ... England is the only known country to react in this manner.

    BRAIN RULE RUNDOWN

This from the link posted by Greenbug.

    http://www.brainrules.net/vision

Describes why a picture truly does replace a thousand words. Relates back to a question I asked on another thread. Do you think in words or pictures or both, and in what order? LW.

Rule #10: Vision trumps all other senses.
We are incredible at remembering pictures. Hear a piece of information, and three days later you'll remember 10% of it. Add a picture and you'll remember 65%.
Pictures beat text as well, in part because reading is so inefficient for us. Our brain sees words as lots of tiny pictures, and we have to identify certain features in the letters to be able to read them. That takes time.
Why is vision such a big deal to us? Perhaps because it's how we've always apprehended major threats, food supplies and reproductive opportunity.
Toss your PowerPoint presentations. It’s text-based (nearly 40 words per slide), with six hierarchical levels of chapters and subheads—all words. Professionals everywhere need to know about the incredible inefficiency of text-based information and the incredible effects of images. Burn your current PowerPoint presentations and make new ones.
So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

“Rule #10: Vision trumps all other senses.”

It takes me along time to read because I sometimes have to reread and add more to my vision of what’s being said. In my mind words are not directly linked but objects are. It’s annoying because others read much faster then me.

I started this thread because eleven years just seems like a long time and our environment is what effects natural selection. I tried reading on the biological link, because I remember something about “every seven years all the cells in your body are replaced” but that is not entirely true. I know that skin and stomach cells die every day. Brain cells can last your entire life. Bone cells can be replaced close to ten years.

One of my friends at work said he thinks of the body and brain like a computer. At birth we are booting up. Once our “hard drive”, or brain, is formatted with information in our child hood it begins to boot our drives, the processes of puberty. At that point once all is ok we begin to add new programs, change existing, and fragment our brain in some sense. This also makes sense, as we are about nine to twelve when this happens and that’s also close to eleven years.

Another friend said he could remember things from his past that he has not reinforced. I find that hard to believe but considering that it maybe true I feel I have to rethink some processes of memory.
