Where can I buy a pair of cheap half inch thick leather pants? The pains from the scratches usually don't last more than a day but what would a million scratches do to the nervous system?

One does want to keep in mind that the furry purring little critters are traditionally eaters of vermin, and that their sharp little claws may act as vector for infections where they penetrate our skin.

May I suggest the article of clothing shown at the following link as being quite functional for your application, as the fronts are double thickness. Easier on the budget than leather and also quite comfortable. The Alaskan fellows are quite partial to these.
