It is an absurd question for the simple reason that quantum refers to the smallest possible piece of quantity by which something can be divided. But, it is also very dificult to think of something that is fundamental, that is not made of something smaller. Therefore, this thread.

What are the fundamental elementary particles made of?

I started a long time ago a similar thread but about strings, now, to see the opinions in general physics, not only a theory, I do this thread.

The most common answers are: of energy, of space (or space-time), or of themselves (that is, they are just full particles). What do you think about these answers and why are the good/bad?

One more thing, I think we should talk differently when talking about the fermions and the bosons. But if your answers is general, it's fine.

But if quanta is energy, then matter fundamental particles like electrons, quarks, neutrinos... Are energy. Therefore matter is energy???

Hi Guille,
matter has mass doesn't it it has energy. quantas constitute the energy of electrons. so electrons have quanta so they HAVE energy. but electrons aren't energy

I agree that electron's aren't energy, they have energy. But with qaunta, it isn't tha they have quanta, it's that electrons are quanta.

Light and thought are at the back of all phenomenon,and show themselves at differing levels of frequency.
Just imagine a piece of coal,that was once a tree,compressed for millions of
years,changes into coal,but all this came from the sun!which is light,fusion
lead.thought condences and "cloaks down"to appear as light,energy,matter.
That is as simple as it gets!

I actually believe that electrons are energy and so are all the other particles that comprise the atoms that make up matter. I don't believe that light is energy. Light is produced by energy so that light can be quantified by calculating the amount of energy required to produce it. The particles are discrete bundles of energy bound by spin and direction, which makes them confined velocity vectors. I believe that all that exists is in the process of winding down and shrinking, which will ultimately result in the end of existence if this process cannot be maintained for perpetuity, and recent examinations into the smallest unit of space that can be occupied by a volume indicate that it cannot, but I also believe that we are but one period in the perpetual motion of creation ocurring at the periphery of the Universe so while we are saying goodbye there is the constant origination of newness far, far away saying hello. That is how the Universe is infinite in scope.
