Simulated quantum? - 09-01-2005, 12:41 AM

If you had a computer of unlimited power, would you be able to program every single particle in the universe, simulate the four fundemental forces and all other necessary fields, and watch the particles unfold into the universe we know now? Or would it be impossible, because of quantum mechanics and the uncertainty principle? With this unlimited computer, would you be able to program in the laws of quantum mechanics for each particle? Could it be done (on a smaller scale) on a quantum computer?
Just some questions I thought of, if anyone has any theories on the answers.

It can be done for a finite number of particles. What cannot be done is to keep track of one single particle and its forces from all other particles, say 24-7-52 (24 hours, 7 days, 52 weeks). Similar problems were encountered using Newtonian mechanics (the clockwork universe of absolute time and space) until the advent of analytical mechanics using variational principles, notable one being d'Alembert's principle.

i personally think that you won't (definately NOT!) be able to programm every single particle in the universe - it rather should go from kind of programming rather large particle clusters to get the somehow wanted effect on a single particle - but be aware a single partcile may have big influence on its rather large particle clusters all around - its a loop i guess - so we have to search for some way right in the middle ...

50% of what i stated can be wrong

50% of what i stated can be right

that may push each possible answer into 100%

to kind of completely control everything - you'll need 100%+++

how to reach 100%+++???

one answer could be defining kind of new mathematics?!

and you may be able to programm a single particle - but you'll NEVER(!?) know the results ...

loops never end - sure one bird only kind of makes one looping in a particular time period and also fish do swim in circles - but they may get !!!!!bored!!!!!!

all that is not a theory but just my phantasy !!! that's a difference - theories mostly stuck - phantasies grow even further and beyond ...

critics welcome!!!

The state of the art in quantum simulation is called virtual reality. At the present time, these simulations are mostly done through the visual sensories. However, more advanced research created sound sensories and also tactile sensories.

antonio:

can you please cut and paste some links to such simulations ... especially visualizations (3d interactive would be great!!!) - thanks!!!

if 3d sound inclusive even better!!

even if something like a "toy" is available it would be appreciated ...

I'm pretty sure you can use your own avatar as long as it is not too big.
