Stephen Hawking in Spain - 04-15-2005, 04:53 PM

For a few days, Hawking has come to Spain to give a talk about astrophysics as an introduction topic to the "Premio Principe de Astuarias" 25th aniversary. These are prices given for arts, science......and encourages cultural things of all kinds.....

I have his discourse in spanish, if anybody want's just send me an e-mail or a private message teling me.

If someone finds it in english somewhere in the internet, give the web. If you have heard it or read it, what do you think about it?

Well, resume of what he speaks about and says:

The second law of thermodinamics

The infinite parallel unvierses caused by time

historical events (leagued to the point on top, and the one after this one).

the begining of the universe and how the fact that we study history from begining to poresent, in that "line" makes it impossble to now anything like a TOE becuase this requeires to now the very begining.

He speaks about this theory he developed with another scientist (I can't remember his name) about the universe starting from zero: just, appearing from nothingness.

He speaks about m-theory, and the 11-dimensions.

In general about cosmology.

Do you, or someone else, know where to find this theory? Btw when "nothingness" in this theory stands for "nothing" then it's very nice because you don't have to look before the BB. How very convenient...too convenient for my taste.

I don't know were to find the theory. In 1983 it was developed, The scientist he developed with this theory was Jim hartle. And yes, it is nothingness meaning nothing.

Hawking uses the example of bubles that appear suddenly out of nothing from water which is being boiled. Although they don't appear from nothing, nothing, they appear from the wateR, but the suddenly appear.

Stephen Hawking has presented his new book in Oviedo (Spain) which is actually a brief vesion of "A breve History of Time" his most famous book, and I don't know yet the english transation because the book is coming up in spanish now, but in UK and USA in six months. but it's something like "A really brief history of time" whihc is a book more for the general public that doesn't know anything about important scientific theories. Hawking is giving lectures in several universities of Spain.
