This I am convinced is an esoteric description of evil but not the cause.

Re: What is the Root of all evil?

    Hello Tina: from #44

    “Incorrect information.”
Miscalculation, error, non truth, When this is willful it is dishonesty.
The root then must be non truth, or simply incorrect information.
I think the buck stops here. As the source or incorrect information again spreads into multiple causes. But at this point it is a single item of cause. (This trail is at its root here.)
This also begins another track of thought
(If incorrect data is (a) root of evil and the character is the result of data.)
    Also thinking.
Is there more than one root cause?
    John.

    Here's what I hear: " De evil " = removal of evil?
    How so?
    Contradiction?
Is contradiction a root of evil?
If this is the case then it should be true in other languages.
But then what is the cause of contradiction?
    What is evil?
Leibniz distinguished between 3 kinds of evil:
Metaphysical (in imperfection), physical (in pain) and ethical (in sin).
Ethical evil is the most obscure, it is purely human.
What is the root of sin?
Does it stem from instincts, temptation, or from willful and conscious action?
Animal instincts are blameless, while even sadistic action is not intentioned as evil.
But going to extremes is harmful; harm causes pain.
Kant considered that selfishness the root of all evil
Evil is the other face of good
The root of good is love (by definition)
Hatred is certainly one root of evil
Selfishness and contradiction might be other roots
Dys-harmony has more to do with ugliness (aesthetics)
But ugliness and evil are cousins
Am I on the right track or going in circles?

If the answer will be related to Word Play, then D-evil can be pronounced as The Evil. Unfortunately, evil can be treated as a root of the word Devil (but devil cannot be taken as a root of the shorter word evil.)

Another word game is an anagram, rearrange the four letters as LIVE, also a backward spelling of EVIL.

Unfortunately, not just living things still alive can be evil, some mysterious symbols without physical life are claimed to be still evil.

The (root) cause of evil, stated in a way so easy that a child or even a caveman could understand it is that

you think you can (get away with it).

Re: What is the Root of all evil?

    Hi Tina:
2nd answer; this is relative to the reverse of live. If The constant continue is also the basis of life as the force behind the drive to survive. Then the reverse of this would also be evil. The reverse of this would be anything that opposes or works against the continuation of life.

    Evil....it is purely human.
What is the root of sin? (SIN IS A RELATIVE TERM)

It defines subjective and objective evil.

Think about these things for now.

Re: What is the Root of all evil?

    Hello Tina:
I wish to thank you. You had a very possitive effect on my thinking. The result is, I think I might have learned something that might be added to any TOE. Cirtainly something about my own. So as not to dilute what you are doing here. I will write an addition in my own blog. I will however mark it inspired by Tina.
Once again thank you. This turned out to be a perfect example of how we might help each other. We all look at the things that concern us. After much time most of these areas begin to run a bit thin. This causes a slowing of additional information. Then somebody comes along with a thought that you normally would overlook because you may feel as though you have pursued that area as far as it is possible to go. Then you discover that there are a few hiding places left for the truth to be.
    Once again, Thank you Tina.
    John

    Hi Tina;

How about God or the concept of God.

    Best to all,
