And I suppose Fermilab is a failure? Have you ever thought that perhaps governments see how important it is to invest in science to further our knowledge? What would you prefer the money to be spent on: more wars?

Seriously, whilst I realise everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm going to take the word of the people who have spent their lives studying a subject over people who hear sensationalist stories on the internet, and jump on the "we're going to destroy the world" bandwagon.

Gee what else could we do with that money? Lets try solving starvation and homelessness..I mean here they are trying to figure out the Universe and forsaking so many of the lives that the Universe supports.....go figure!!!!!

    Tch, tch..

The most dangerous people in the world are the ignorant people. Those who preach that knowledge is a dangerous thing are themselves dangerous. They prefer to direct their attentions to 'real' earthly things like war and persecution and suffering.

If it wasn't for CERN, we wouldn't be doing this right now, because what we know as the modern day internet grew out of a project initiated by the programmers at CERN who needed a new type of wide area network with a quick and ready means for linking to resources - hypertext - via a new type of programming protocol called HTML. Thank you very much CERN!

Even some so-called "scientists" are that in name only. Check out this link. 'Nuff said.

Thank you for your posting neutralino, yours too baudrunner.

Where I am coming from in this is from the study of research that took place during WW II in Germany. Specifically how the scientific community let learned awarded Doctorates take there interests to the level they did and in some research labs still in Germany if memory serves me right the use of information gathered is still available and used.

For the prime example I have used in collegiate forum is the information from testing the human to see how long the body can withstand cold temperatures before freezing to death ... varied temperatures in a freezer were used and varied sex and ages of humans were used, thousands actually, just stripped naked and herded into the freezer and timed as they died. All this to further science and be able to tell when the Government storm troopers in Russia winter could be expected to die rather then fight that "front" at the time.

How has become the question did the social order ever get to a point where this could be done by someone called Doctor, scientist, researcher ...? HOW you two?

Because there are those just like yourselves refusing to even consider the possible result in a stated mind set "They KNOW what they are doing" and that gentlemen is my issue here ... that mind set of follow the guy in the white coat ... obedience to authority ... +60% of all have ... I see that there in CERN and action of the participants the same as the doctor who killed those thousands by freezing them to death ... OH OH .. as i asked the forum of students being at the podium one time ... "knowing the results of the freezing tests today and you had to make a judgment call up north to rescue one or another person freezing ... would you use the information to save one in your judgment being made?

So many immediately said "YES" ....so many, so phucn many ... raised there hands to say yes they would use the information....

If they are acting in personal agenda with the full consideration of potential risk then they are doing wrong and any information reported or used demands censor. There is no middle ground, there is no afterwords well they were right ... you will not be able to use the information because you will never know for sure that it is the TRUTH ... and that is reality.

And the more it goes on the more the freezer doors get opened again.

History has shown that the most dangerous people in the world are those who seek knowledge through studying the human state, through those they feel are less human and less deserving to be alive. The height of ignorance is the attainment of knowledge with total insensitivity to the plight of those sacraficed in the name of knowledge.

Graham, I don't understand why either you or Mikal associate these sort of 'conspiracy theories', whatever their credibility, with either CERN or Fermilab.

Fermilab has been operating in the states for years and years. Its results are available to all ..... you can visit it, see what they do there. Its produced heaps of Nobel Prizes .....

Would you shut it down, refuse funding, on the grounds that you don't understand it ..... the answers to the worlds problems will come from these laboratories. All our problems are to do with the efficiency with which we manipulate energy .... !!!!

Or is this a flag waving thing, because CERN has supplanted Fermilab.

Sometimes we have to listen to those in a position to know more than us and have the courage to go forward with them together.

    Re: LHC (Large Hadron Collider)

On 4 April 2012 an experiment in CERN, Geneva, goes wonderfully right and horribly wrong.

The wonderful thing is that a black hole is created. Scientists have been hoping for this for years. The horrible part is that, instead of evaporating by Hawking radiation (as theory predicted) it is persistent.

The hole begins to burn its way through the huge ATLAS detector, there is an explosion and eight people are trapped underground. Their only way of escape is through the ATLAS cavern itself. As they enter the cavern the hole emerges from ATLAS and two people are sucked in.

    Now read on…

    Re: LHC (Large Hadron Collider)

Hi cool bananas....thanks for post but I think you misunderstood my post...I was commenting only on the concept of "ignorance" just generally in the area of our search for knowledge not particularly in reference to the Cern Project.

This Hawking radiation theory was one of the cautionary stories in the Cern Study which those undertaking it felt it was assumed to be safe not really known to be safe which I guess they looked at as "iffy" standards for safety in that ongoing project...

I sincerely hope that the LHC is worthwhile. If Higgs Boson is discovered, then how will it effect the existing physics????

    Hi Greg

I know i am not making any friends in my thoughts posted that the CERN project is ... not my cup of tea wanted on the world plate I see ..how can i say this ...

Mikal has pointed out that on a world scale the money used could have gone to better use and seems to be her objection to this and she points out a personal viewing and personal feeling there is just not something right there. ...

I go deeper in to the money thought and ponder because if in any research someone suffers ... it is not right ... do we stop it? All research? ... no we will not do that, it just goes underground.

What is the weighing on the scales Greg ... the word comes back from your owned learned self and others ... this project is good.

I see other "priorities", Fermilab ... another project of science done on the backs of others need unfulfilled ... right nothing fair to life. Maybe if there was more "This Project was made possible by the starvation and deaths of the following list of humans who were not helped on the world scale and social brotherhood of the term humanity demands to create the following benefits to all humanity ...."

The difference in ethical behavior is the use of tax money instead of donated time and money ... the spending of tax money under guise of worthy deed has to be compared to other problems, deaths, disasters ... and science is not better or more worthy of these things or has a higher priority and it is akin to the Nazi war camps where the priority was to science not the human persona or human condition over all ...

If in the face of need and instead of donated, model of reference, time and money to CERN or Fermilab the money and time was spent to solve the needs or not then could be a measurement of worthiness indeed of those involved but not otherwise as is presented here, I am sorry greg. In such projects those with understanding of this ethical factor of research in any disciplines of ...science ... the human individual has priority.

What do you want me to say that you all pro CERN type mind set became unethical bastards to me? I am nobody to you so why would that be an issue? I am not as educated or rich or important as any of you would be.

No, i am to much a gentleman to do that. My posts are sole that of personal ponder = contemplation and having to scream out loud the primal yell of frustration ... when will man learn what is important and what has to wait.

    Does this answer your question?

Now what though. I am really peeved with the whole picture. You know I offered a compressed free energy device in exchange for them to stop CERN ... just to show the meaning of compassion ... no it has no meaning to them. I think that the whole of the world needs a wakeup so some things get better prioritized ... not as a matter of opinion but as a matter of fact.

Do you know what the Sudan an African drought was caused by? War and science where we put so much particles in the air the change of seasons did not allow the air stream to cross the equator ... particles in the air that acted as a shield to the needed event ... Example is the full solar eclipse where the the shadow cooled the earth in seconds over ten degrees ... and then there is the post 911 world wide no fly period where without the pollution the world temperature raised over ten degrees ... we need a shake up.

I am going to put my energy device on the market soon, ... destroy the world economy, have half the world hate me and the rest have nots love me. Society has spawned me. Do you want to know something funny Greg? my birth number ... 066606 ... yup six three score and six lol ... i have been predicted to show up a long time ago ... had to be a sociologist ... in the circle and out of the box ... are you in the box? or are you in the circle ...
that may be the question for the next ten centuries ... amazing what the mind can come up with late at night listening to Lennon,Taylor and the Crickets ... good vibes in those waves. g'nite Peace~ G
