As I recall the tinman got a clock for his heart, the lion got a medal for his courage, and the scarecrow got a degree for his brains, and Dorthy got zilch.

Re: Without a brain you are dead?

All matter is thought manifest : Every-'thing' is thought into existence through the mind, but where is the mind? where are thoughts?
Thoughts are the world you see and the things you see are not separate from the thoughts of them.
Neither having any real existence, locality or meaning except for LOVE alone.
    An amazing phenomena indeed.

    It is like a painter
    Spreading the various colors:
    Delusion grasps different forms
But the elements have no distinctions.

In the elements there's no form,
    And no form in the elements;
    Yet apart from the elements
    No form can be found.

In the mind is no painting,
    In painting there is no mind;
    Yet not apart from mind
Is any painting to be found.

    That mind never stops,
    Manifesting all forms,
    Countless, inconceivably many,
    Unknown to one another.

    Just as a painter
    Cannot know his own mind
Yet paints due to the mind,
So is the nature of all things.

    Mind is like an artist,
    Able to paint the worlds:
    The five clusters [aggregates] are born thence;
There is nothing it does not make.

    As in the mind, so is the Buddha;
As the Buddha, so living beings:
    Know that Buddha and mind
    Are in essence inexhaustible.

If people know the actions of mind
    Create all the worlds,
    They will see the Buddha
    And understand Buddha's true nature.

Mind does not stay in the body,
    Nor body stay in mind:
Yet it is able to perform Buddha-work
    Freely, without precedent.

If people want to really know
    All Buddhas of all times,
They should contemplate the nature of the cosmos:
    All is but mental construction.

Re: Without a brain you are dead?

    IT is a No-Brainer??

No-Thing is either Dead or Alive

    There is only Consciousness/Awareness

Within which all things Appear and Disappear.

Existence is neither Here nor There.

It is No-Where and Every-Where .. ETERNALLY NOW!

Creation is a runaway train. The potential of creative possibilities are endless.

Each new creation comes to form within awareness in the instant it is thought, and known instantly one with the knowing.
Each sensation sensed arises in the instant the body mind organism demands it is re-cognized instantly via the brain one with the knowing.

PURE Awareness is beyond the mind and mind is an aspect of Awareness.
Appearing in Consciousness, creating creation from a PURE foundation.
All things created .. whether good or evil.. painful or pleasurable, are of a transient nature and have no foundation or exsistence except as an appearance.[illusion]

Pure Awareness is Inconceivable and Ungraspable to comprehend through the mind,
for the mind cannot go beyond the mind it is relative and thoughts cannot grasp other thoughts.
That is like a thought asking another thought about the content of that thought.
It would be like consciousness asking the contents of consciousness what is consciousness.
Yet it is Two sides of the same coin, one side cannot see the other but are one and the same nonetheless.
When this knowing that the two are really one, is realized.
We awaken to eternal life ... the two sides/opposites merge into (ONE )
Becoming NOTHING = Pure Eternal Awareness.
This appears as 'us' masquerading around becoming self aware of self .
We are that masquerading [Pure- Self] ''appearing'' as the many.

Thoughts are like bubbles they pop in and out of existence.
Thoughts re-create existence every moment, this creation becomes conceptual giving meaning to the meaningless, through language.
No data is ever lost anywhere in the universe.
The illusion of a separate self appears and merges concurrently by association with memory or recognition of the conceptual overlay.
Appearing as the body mind organism. [Self Awareness]

All Thoughts are turned to things including us.
Matter including our bodies are the residue of thought trapped in the halls of time.
The space between all objects perceived create the illusion of a world of separate objects.
We perceive and then give meaning to this world calling it our reality.
It is nothing more that a mental construct of the mind.
There is no time space or separate thing anywhere.
That is a purely conceptual i-dea.

To say the brain creates consciousness has no value or logic.
All things are concepts of the imaginary self trying to make sense of itself.
So we may well ask .. what are the brains behind that which created the brain.?
The universal laws were around long before the human brain appeared on the scene.

It's a closed loop. With NOTHING at the centre.
In the absolute sense. No-thing ever came first, because there was no beginning and no end.
beginning and ends are ''apparent'' only in a relative sense.
Like the in-breath and the out -breath. They arise and fall mutually together.

There is the world of senses .. (this is tangible) and there is the world of memory,
the memory is where we reside most of our time.
It is the conceptual overlay that gives rise to the appearance of an assumed separate self.

When we live in the NOW of No-Mind .. (THIS we can experience while in deep mediation )

We may discover that there really is no self and that all there is.. IS silent presence.
This is who you are essentially, you are not your body.
This silent presence is the eternal nothingness out of which all things arise and fall,
    including your body.
Knowing this is what brings ever lasting peace and joy to this body beingness predicament.

It is our apparent attachments to this transient material world that causes our restlessness and discontentment.

This is my theory/ reality i've personally intuited/ discovered.
    Thank-you for reading.

    Yes Michael,
It that spark of awareness that resides with us via our common Mother Nature that gives rise to our own relative consciousness, or son.

    Kudos brother

Re: Without a brain you are dead?

    Hi Melanie;

When I tranced myself and had my OOB experience, I became aware that all is illusion, including my gross body. There was however awareness and a feeling of eternal and unconditional love. However my awareness started being erased and I panicked and came quickly back to the body. Later, I read that I should have let consciousness or awareness be erased or eliminated to achieve Nirvana.

In Buddhism, parinirvana (meaning "complete extinction") is the final nirvana, usually understood to be within reach only upon the death of the body of someone who has attained complete awakening (bodhi). It is the ultimate goal of Buddhist practice and implies a release from the cycle of deaths and rebirths as well as the dissolution of all worldly physical and mental aggregates known as skandhas (form, feeling, perception, mental fabrications, and consciousness).

    Best,

    Pat

Re: Without a brain you are dead?

Our Higher Self, that "divine spark of creative genius", came into being at the same time our physical or lower self came into being. The ancient Greeks knew of this "Genius" , that is what they called It, and celebrated the birth of their "Genius" at the same time they celebrated the birth of their physical body.

Some [religiously] prefer to call it their God, and Sanctify it as such, but, does it really matter what we call it, as long as it is recognized for what it is? A No-Brainer. The Buddha is in your Mirror.
