Dan Millman/The Life Purpose System of Thought -
06-13-2008, 06:20 PM
In 1985 spiritual revolutionary, writer and author Dan Millman met the wise and learned Pythagorean thinker...Michael Bookbinder. From that meeting and a transfer of fundamental spiritual thought..Millman went on to create The Life Purpose System eventually authoring it as the book, "The Life You Were Born to Live."
Years later this book kind of fell off the shelf and into my hands...when books do that, I usually pay attention. I glanced it quickly and decided the thought system deserved some examination. For two years I ruiminated with this book, dismantling the thought..studying it like it was a fine classic. I did allow my mind to embrace horizons of thought which would seem impossible but were actually quite tempting to sense as quite possible.
Millman plays with numbers...created 37 life paths and birth numbers for the twentieth century...allowing for change in these in the paths and numbers with every century. The Universe watches us...what a fantastic thought..we are on a journey...purposive driven..
Millman also created the following Universal Natural Laws:
The Law of Flexibility
The Law of Choices
The Law of Responsibility
The Law of Balance
The Law of Process
The Law of Patterns
The Law of Discipline
The Law of Perfection
The Law of the Present Moment
The Law of No Judgment
The Law of Faith
The Law of Expectation
The Law of Honesty
The Law of Higher Will
The Law of Intuition
The Law of Action
The Law of Cycles
Through your day, month and year of birth...one becomes on a path for their journey. Every lifepath has its own applied Laws...so you may not be under the same laws as me for example...hence the particular complexity of my life as compared to the particular complexity of your life...Incredible thought here.
I took my lifepath, studied it in companion with the said Laws which affect me...I had to consider..Dan Millman does not know me...how does he therefore know, what I struggle with privately, what my challenges are..etc..
Most pertinent I discovered that 4 being the predominant number in my path when worked through for a lifetime reveals a person who Negatively would be the best vacillator and positively would be the best analyst...wonders and wonders..my greatest preoccupations..I am an analyst... a researcher..
Questions and wonderings....who else has run across Dan Millmans system of thought? Who would like to know more? Any thoughts out there???

Michael...its an incredible thought system. Get back to me if you find it and share your thoughts...Myself, since I have been consciously working with the said Laws that affect me on my journey....my path is a great deal smoother..seeing I know in what direction to flow with my own energy...
peace Mikal

Hi Austie sweetie...according to Dan Millman's thought system...the past and the future are mental constructs we involve ourselves in whereas the Present Moment is the truth of where our body is at the moment...the Present Moment is the truth of existence. Our past is most times our regrets and the future most times our concerns...but the present moment is the one we are in and it holds countless opportunities we fail to see and grasp or follow because we have taken our attention to the past or the future...so we most often miss them. The Present Moment is the state of simplicity and peace...it is reality and problem free...it just is...we are supposed to relax into it and let it embrace us. We have to learn how to grab it...
Its like when the world is dumping on you...but your body is sitting on a park bench smelling a rose...your not all the happenings being dumped...your the body on the bench smelling the rose...smiles...

Perhaps a tiny bit of anticipation of the very near future infuses the present while the last remembered notes of the just past do the same, giving rise to the 'smoothly rolling now', an experience that none of the three could have given rise to alone, such as in the continuity of a musical song. I think I have a poem about it somewhere.

Dan Millman says the past is fine if we can just let regrets be and leave them alone..he says the future should not be our concerns but your dream as you sit on that bench and smell the rose....smiles....like he says...kinda crazy to dwell on regrets when no matter how you twist them...they stay the same...terrible waste of energy...

"Music"
Memory’s ideas recall the last heard tone,
Sensation savors what is presently known,
Imagination anticipates coming sounds—
The delight is such that none could produce alone.

Now that rendition of the unification of past, present and future would be what Dan Millman referred to as..."the bird in freedom who innately remembers it can fly..yet to experience its life fully, it lands, goes through the arduous task of building a nest where it has the freedom to experience the depths of its life..."
smiles...Mikal....(*) (*)

I am inhaling the fragrance of the rose that is you.
— In the NOW! —
The reward of the moment can only
Be had by being fully present for it,
For then there are no regrets of the dead past,
No worries to quake the unborn future.
