Does String Theory have any value as a TOE?

Thanks bottomlander,what about us all throwing our keys into a collective hat,and
coming up with a acceptable concoction for a theory,it might work,i would be willing
to have a go,if there are any takers?

How about a contest of theories?

We develop 1 definitive 'test' of a TOE, to which anyone can submit a pre-existing theory or a new theory.

Those that fail the test are discarded. Those that pass move on to the second round of tests. We repeat this until a couple of promising candidates are found.

A good idea would be if a theory can be modified in the middle of the contest, to make it evolutionary.

Without some kind of test we could be arguing over which theory is best until the end of time.

Of course, this is where I say that the first test of the TOEs should be to weed out those that have no application outside of physics., especially since those would be most difficult to prove.

I don’t believe either of us is qualified to pass judgment as to what meets the TOE criteria. I only dispute what some claim to be science.

We all dispute things dave,science does not and will not answer all the questions
of lifes signaling codes.

We do not need to be essentially "qualified" rather we need to be open minded and fair,willing
to listen to all ideas,then prehaps when we have exhausted all the applicants,we can then
both preside over a vote,taken by all members,to see which one comes out a winner.

I will put my put my theory on the table,consciousness holds the key to the toe,if it gets
voted out,then fair enough,I promise not to sulk.

Maybe Robert could act as an umpire?

Anyway I am willing to have a bash at it,what about you?

I think a 'points' system would work better than a single vote per person.

Everyone starts with 10 points to spread among to those theories they think are worthy. That way, you can vote on more than 1 theory and give more votes to the one you prefer most.

I agree here. String theory has no applications. Neither can it be proved nor can it solve anything. Why are we then taking a mirage so seriously???

The math is useful to physics; however Like QM, some of the interpretations of the math are pure bull. String theory is made for TV science called SciFi.
