I was wondering if anyone had any good books or intenet websites they would advise to read to learn some string theory? it would be fantastic if someone could point me in the right direction.
"God does not play with dice"
-of course he does, natural selection would never have happened if he didn't!
I can recomend you divulgative string theory books.
The best one I have read, is "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene (a string theorist) which explains ypou from top to bottom: quantum theory and relativity, to the stages of string theory: strings, membranes, squashed dimensions.... it is a very good book to get introduced in String theory.
Let me add that I just got done reading "The Elegant Universe" It was excellent. I am a very amateur physics student. The ready was easy and he eliminates most of the crazy math that is involvec, but only in the main text. He leaves that at the back of the book for people with more mathematics in their background. I also just picked up his newest book " The Fabric of the Cosmos" The same thing is true for this book. He talks a lot about string theory in both.
