Book Recommendation and Posting Guidelines - 12-13-2004, 01:28 AM

Welcome to the Book Discussion Forums! These forums are provided so you can talk about the great books you have read and gives you a forum to share your experience with others. If your book does not have a dedicated forum already, you might recommend that the book be considered for a future forum. If your book is approved, a forum will be created that is dedicated to the discussion of your book and any thoughts, confussion, or enlightenment that follows your reading.

Ok, here are the rules....

On Book Recommendations

  1. The book should, of course, be related to the Theory of Everything since that is what this website is all about. It does not have to deal with it directly, but it should be related to the theory in some way.
  2. The book should be worthy of discussion. I know this will be somewhat subjective, but I'm looking for books that are will generate discussion. If the book is too shallow, superficial, or just not very content rich, no one will want to discuss it.
  3. The book may be thought provoking and may be controversial, but should be based on science, reason, and logic.
  4. The book should be one that can be read multiple times with new knowledge and understanding resulting from each reading.
  5. These books should be considered must reading by anyone seeking an understanding of the Theory of Everything.
On Posting Guidelines
  1. When you start a new thread, the title should give the location in the book that you wish to discuss. Include a page number and either a paragraph number or a section heading.
  2. Before posting to a book discussion forum you should have read or at least be reading the book under discussion. Ideally you have already read the book and you are currently reading the book a second time. As you come across an interesting or illuminating passage, describe it in a thread and see what others think.
  3. Try to keep comments to threads on the subject. The passage may inspire thoughts in other areas and that's fine and expected. However, if you wish to discuss a different part of the book then you should start a new thread.
I'll probably update these guidelines later based on how the discussions go and feedback from members. I think these are good enough to get the ball rolling.

You may purchase your book through amazon.com by clicking on the book icon. The price you pay will be the same amount that you would pay if you went to the website directly. In addition, your ToeQuest Community will receive a small referral fee when you purchase the book after accessing amazon.com through one of the book icons.
