I was at Disneyworld this winter and I saw Mickey Mouse. He really does exist and so does Minnie and Donald Duck. Next thing you're going to try to tell me is that the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus doesn't exist either.

The one thing in this existence that we all share that is real, is our own awareness of self, the I am. This I am is the ONLY TRUE REALITY. This is certain because everything else in our awareness could be but a dream. But the perception of I am even if it is a dream is still ,I. For the fact or fiction of the dream only will change the state of being not it’s existence. In this awareness of self can be seen the constant flow of the experience of perceptions, the perception of self is but one of these that continue as the passage of time from now to the next now.

This is more true than the perception of this space that we believe so much in, for this space might be but a dream. Just the self and the strand of time that it exists within is true.

Who can deny the I AM?
Who can deny the trail of perceptions that forever continue at NOW?
Can you truly deny that this is time?
This is where we truly exist, not in the dream of space.
The Being is a proper verb.
Your character may be tagged with a proper noun, as I am John.


You can not talk of time without my thought that generates not conversation, but silence. That silence still exists. Better to talk to me now while I am here to talk back. I thought for a while I would not be. It does now appear that I will continue for a while I am happy to say on this Good Friday. I did not leave to go back home yet.

Ooooo Time!

A lot of responses point to the idea that time is an illusion, and in many ways I can agree. I think that we live in an information based world, so everything we perceive is created through 1s and 0s. But, since we are only live consciously in this world of perception it seems to me that if time will always be an illusion then wouldn't that make it real(for us)? We may recognize whatever we think is the 'real' reality, but we might never experience it in our lifetime. Dismissing everything as an illusion is fine and dandy, but their is no reason why you can't explain that illusion. I have a feeling it's going to be here for a while.

I agree with your philosophy. I think everything, but love, is an illusion, but that illusion is real. So like Aristotle, why not study it. I think Aristotle agreed with his teacher Plato, that the world is illusion, but he was more of a realist, and probably our first scientist.

Exactly what I think, although you'll have to explain the love part. And thanks for the Aristotle/Plato history, after reading "The Apology," which was a speech of Socrates, I believe, I love learning more about the famous Greek philosophers. Some of the things in that speech were spot on, left me very impressed. : )

Time an illusion?Mmmm then I guess we are all an illusion. If we are an illusion and time is an illusion who or what is hallucinating all of this.
