Oh Dear Tina,

No wonder you question evil, your not even sure of reality.
I know really good and bad, why don't you?
Are you for real?
I am, I'm sure.

Well with your philosohy MJA, Good = Bad; Real = Unreal; MJA = Tina; Know = Unknown; Sure = Doubt; and Your Brain = Potato.

Re: What is the Root of all evil? - 06-13-2008, 10:49 AM

The root of all evil is the illusion of opposites.

I think that statement could possibly be simple enough for a child to understand.
I'll give some fundamental examples:

Good and Evil
You and Me
Past and Future

Less fundamental would be:

Up and Down
Yes and No
Light and Dark

Evil is not a human perpetration, it's an affliction. It's an illusion.

Hi leviwhit;

Welcome to the Toequest Forum. from your statement I guess you are not a believer in Duality such as Yin/Yang or Male/Female. A number of our members would agree there is only ONE. I believe in multiple manisfestations on the relative plane of existence, but in the Absolute Reality, I too believe in ONE.

To follow your argument I guess there would be no root of evil, in that you believe evil is an illusion, and therefore it's root, must also therefore, be an illusion.

Again welcome to the Forum.

Best to you,

Pat

Hi Graham...well we won't quibble about semantics...I love playing with words, actually used "light" here in a different meaning which had more affinity with the fact that "en-light-en-ment" or transcendence is an issue of biology. I suppose I could have expanded "delicacy" to an inner state of emotional sensitivity, because emotion absorbs energy... to more clarify my point...smiles..

Thanks.
Well, that's pretty much what I'm saying, but if you put it like that it seems like I'm just sweeping it under the rug and saying that evil isn't actually there, so then there's no real problem to discuss.
But there is obviously a problem. And our inclination to form websites like this one and religions, and to continue tirelessly in search of something through all the avenues of science and philosophy is an obvious inherent push towards a solution to the problem.
An illusion is something even if it is an illusion. You can look at a mirage and say that the water isn't there, but you can't say the mirage isn't there, it definitely is.
So I could add to my original statement and your response by saying that the root and the evil are the same thing. Both parts of the same illusion, but nevertheless very much real and problematic.

---Tina.
---I am putting out three words/describing three different concepts and if none of them are the answer you want/think is the right one, I am going to sit, wait and see what is the word/symbol you will be using, because I am betting that the idea/concept is somewhere in this thread already mentioned, in some way, form or manner.

---1) Acceptance.
---2) Denial.
---3) Emotions.

---It just, looks to me that, people are saying ‘orb’ or ‘sphere’ and you are saying that they are wrong, because you want ‘ball’.

The world is the way it is, because we like it this way.
Otherwise, we would change it.

This reality question is indeed tricky...I consider reality to be a state that is real...the world, society and the mass of humanity are real to me...

I consider knowledge of reality as actually getting a hang of how things work down here on earth, in the world and society and between the masses.

Love is good..you can see and feel that...power if abused or misused is bad...you can see that too. Seeing these are not ideas but actual "actions" that reveal themselves through life..they reflect the reality I am living in and having my place in. So seeing and garnering this knowledge gives me profound knowledge about reality.....Life and the living of life..is like a mirror... it reflects back at us as reality...much knowledge there to be had about good and bad...

Peace Mikal
