And you can only serve one master. That is why I have my masters degree, so I can be my own master and serve myself, so I can be well served.

Your statement seems in contradiction. :) I tease. More seriously, absurdity with a name is still absurdity. You've chosen to redefine what is meant by clapping in a way I believe violates the intention of the koan. Your answer defies cause and effect, among other things, and tho I might enjoy taking the argument in that direction, it still begs the meaning.

Same as above. Nonsense. I have no problem with nonsense, I just require it have meaning. How does this lead to a Theory of Everything?

Hi Whys;

You are confusing an old brain like mine. thinking of such things trains you to think outside and inside.

The answer by the way is that the ustppable force either goes through the immovable object, like nuetrinos going through the Earth or around it like the wind going around the mountains.

Now I imagine you are going to tell me nothing is immovable or unstoppable, both of which are true. I guess I enjoy non sense more than sense.

Best,

Pat

Prophat,

You seem like a nice person and I'm honestly not trying to pass any judgement, but please allow me to be blunt about the truth as I know it.

When was the last time you applauded with one hand? The koan is provided as a means of exploring the role that duality and inter-relationship play in the search for knowledge and truth. I assure you, it is not an exercise in finger-bending.

Enlightenment is a responsibility, not a bragging right. As such, it can exist only in action, not words. Thus typically, when one declares themselves enlightened, they prove they are not.

The question regarding unstoppable-vs.-unmovable is not a question for answering in a rational three-dimensional context. The reality is, there seems to be no such problem set in existence. Our minds can create it, just like we can create the notion of two hands making a clapping sound, then remove one hand as if it existed independantly from the other, and expect our result to remain the same. It might appear possible to the mind, but it has no sensible expression. It doesn't exist except in our imagining.

Now I suppose one could argue that the same is true of everything and imagining is all we really have. I like the notion, though find it difficult given that I am still not satisfied with what my mind has created. Perhaps that is *my* failing and you have simply found Nirvana. :)

So allow me to ask, how can we create a Theory of Everything and be reasonably assured that it is true?

Profpat,

I take your Theory of Everything to be "Love". Nothing wrong with that, probably a whole lot right. Jesus would certainly agree. I am already well aware of this line of reasoning however, and was hoping for something more. After all, love does nothing to explain sadism, which clearly does exist. Thus your TOE seems incomplete. :(

Hi Whys;

It in a sense is my theory, though I have a more detailed one located at:
( http://www.toequest.com/forum/your-t...2803-idea.html )You'll have to access it through the PDF link provided. I would love to hear your comments. Any questions or comments you can post at that thread.

As far as Sadism, some people love it. like Count DeSade.

Best,

Pat
