Enlightenment

Enlightenment is the process of attaining wisdom or truth by the clarifying of one's thoughts,
achieved simply by removing any uncertainty or spectacles of doubt.
Removing any darkness of doubt that obscures one's vision,
will leave only the clear light of truth, of not only nature, but equally oneself.
We all have the truth; we just need a little enlightenment to see it.

Histroy records the "Age of Enlightment" and I guess it seemed like that at the time - it was an age of realisation and questioning. Do you see Enlightenment as a product of individual endeavour or as a result of the force of truth impacting on the individual.

MJA - I've sipped so much of what I thought was 'truth' and now I am quite disenchanted about ever really finding it - or whether it even exists.

I would like to think of Truth as something revealed to us - despite of our own silly ideas.....

Truth is already you, it cannot be acquired as you believe, but rather only exposed.
The path of enlightenment is simply the removal of any untruth, for it is those untruths that obscure what is, and who you really are. The process is simply a clearification or attainment of oneself.
Once you start down this road you will only crave more.
Removing any doubt, uncovers the truth.
By the time you uncover what truly and simply is, you will not take a sip of the beauty revealed, but rather emerse yourself in it, and be truly one.
Unfortunately, you will still see, only more clearily, the untruth that still surrounds you.

Thanks MJA for the thread,enlightenment comes "online" to us as we become more aligned to the inclusive nature of reality,as we "wake-up" from our slumberous wanderings through the miasmic planes of illusion and exclusivity,we begin to re-focus our
gaze and turn inward rather than outward,when this is practised and becomes second nature,enlightenment will surely follow,it has to,it is the Law!

The enlightenment I think of seems much different from yours MJA. The way you describe it as would be more fitting as an answer to Tina's 'The Root of All Evil' thread.

Maybe one day people will realize that their brains are limited, and that they should never remove doubt. Real understanding comes from knowing you cannot be certain.

Preaching your kinds of ideas leads to a very violent society. I hope you can open your eyes to reason, rather than assuming your right about everything.

The Principle of Rhythm

"Everything flows out and in; everything has its season;
all things rise and fall;
the pendulum swing expresses itself in everything;
the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates."
This Principle embodies the idea that in everything there exists a measured motion to and fro;
an outflow and inflow;
a swing backward and forward;
a pendulum like movement;
a tide like ebb and flow;
a high tide and a low tide.
All things "come in and out of bond"
between the two opposing points which exist in accordance with the Principle of Opposition described previously.
There is always an action and a reaction;
an advance and a retreat; a rising and a sinking.
This is in the affairs of the universe, suns, worlds, humankind, animals, mind, energy, and matter.
This law is established in the creation and destruction of worlds;
in the rise and fall of nations;
and finally in the mental states of humans.
The students that realize this Principle find its universal application and discover the means to overcome its effect upon themselves.
They apply the mental Law of Neutralization
They cannot annul the Principle or cause it to cease its operation.
They do not escape the effect the Principle will have on them at one level, but they have learned how to escape its effects upon themselves to a certain degree.
They have learned how to USE it, instead of being USED BY it
In this and similar methods consist the art of the masters.
The masters immerse themselves at the point at which they desire to rest, and then neutralize the rhythmic swing of the pendulum which wants to carry them to the opposite point.
All individuals who have attained any degree of self mastery do this naturally,
more or less unconsciously, but the masters do this consciously by the use of their Will.

They attain a degree of poise and mental firmness beyond belief of the masses who are swung backward and forward on the pendulum of Opposition.
