    Thanks, Melanie.

The main danger I am in presently, is that now that the mega-dose of Ibuprofen is beginning to take hold, I start thinking that I should be doing more than I am. Fortunately, my logic center is over-riding that silly urge.

One of the reasons that we must be careful in giving pain relieving medication to horses in particular, is that they will run and re-injure the very circumstance that one is attempting to remedy.

The medical advisor was quite adamant that I stay the course as far as keeping the pain and swelling down, so it would be unwise to engage in heavy activities just because I'm snapped up on meds.

As I take very little medication, I can catch a ride on three Aspirin, lol...... Guess that makes me a 'cheap round', unless you're picking up the bar tab......

How are things in your world? Your visit with family etc. was good?

What about your lovely garden? My greens are prolific, carrots are filling, and hoping my late started broccoli was timed about right to not be adversely affected by the bit of heat we've been having.
So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

Horses don't know the TOE ..... They are the TOE

    Take a look > > >

Any time spent with horses reveals to us our inner thoughts. The mere fact that horses don’t talk back lends to them a mirror-like quality. They don’t talk back. They reflect back what they perceive.

When we look in a mirror, we don’t really see ourselves as we really are (what’s that?). We see an image doctored up by literally millions of composite experiences, feelings, judgements, and “stories” we tell ourselves about ourselves. This is why we feel so odd when looking at photos of ourselves. It never really looks like us, does it? In our expert opinion (who’s not an expert on themselves?) there’s always something a little off. What’s off is that the mirror is strangled by the kudzu of our judgements. We don’t even know we make them, but we do. A zillion times a day.

In so doing, we fail to take advantage of the best mindfulness mirror on the planet. The horse.

Re: Horses don't know the Toe

An excellent link, Melanie, thank you.

One of the lessons I taught, was that the rider had to be aware of their own state of mind in rider to work with the horse safely and to any purpose, even if that purpose was pleasure.

Horses are a prey species and depend on each member of the herd to observe and communicate all potential threats. If we are unable to fulfill that obligation, then the horse does not trust us, and may not be willing to accept the obligation of our safety in certain circumstances. Therefore, if one is in a distressed frame of mind, one is best to take a brush in hand and be content with grooming their horse, and take comfort from the closeness and comfort that a horse in a secure environment is most willing to offer.

Horses interface with the world around them in a profound way. I have observed and endeavored to learn from them for years, and the horses that I now have with me, were selectively bred for generations, for both their physical attributes and their personality and empathy with our species.

Handy is the most unique horse I have known of all who have shared my life.

The research of mirror neurons is an explanation that fits with my observations of animals and persons. I am ever delighted when I encounter other beings with whom I immediately have or am able to develop 'that connection'.

Many of the mysteries of our world shall gradually unravel as we learn more of the manner in which our brain works with our senses to experience the world around us, IMO.

This is an intriguing photo that makes one look twice. Do Zebras have striped shadows, lol?

Shake and Bake weather in the Yukon, the past fews days. Delightfully cool this morning at 6:00 a.m. (54F) compared to yesterday afternoon (86F). I realize that this is not that warm compared to some regions, but it's pretty toasty for these parts and the plants are seriously weather stressed from lack of moisture, and the fire hazard has been extreme most of the summer. Absolutely no open fires allowed, even in campground fire pits. Takes a bit away from the camping experience, but a necessary precaution when the forest is tinder dry.

In the deep south of the U.S. analog is roasting in a steam bath sauna of 100 degrees and high humidity, but it is squeezing and melting many good thoughts out of him.

Re: Horses don't know the Toe

Hi everyone, have been away, needed to take a break from posting, to refresh.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful insights.

Intelligence is it's own doer, there is no other doer.

Let's call INTELLIGENCE the music of the universe.

The original source of the music cannot be found. ...It is Non-Intelligent Design.
    Is it the song writer?
    Is it her inspiration?
Is it the musician or the instrument she plays?
Is it the vibration on the ear drum or the electro-chemical reaction in the brain?

LIFE-- It has nothing to do with your intelligence, your intellect, or what you think you know ie: (knowledge)

The conceptual mind evolved and functions in a fragmented world.

When in truth things...as separate entities..... exist only in the mind's own conceptual overlay.
