Why I Like This Website - 10-03-2006, 04:09 PM

deloprator2000, having recently joined the ToeQuest website, wonders into the Many-Worlds Pub. deloprator senses something unique about this place and suddenly, the urge to speak out becomes unbearable. Spotting a stage and microphone in the corner of the pub, deloprator steps onto the stage, grabs the microphone, turns to the audience, then blows into the microphone. The loud hissing noise from the speakers startles the patrons as they all turn to the stage, curious to see what's going on. deloprator, unsure if the microphone is working, now starts tapping on it sending lound thumping sounds hurling through the pub, at the speed of sound, causing the patrons to cover their ears in pain. The sound of feedback fills the pub as deloprator speaks, "Testing one two three...".

"For Pete's sake, it's working!", someone yells from the back of the room.

deloprator looks up to see all eyes watching the stage, voices are hushed, the look of curious anticipation on all faces. deloprator, a little self conscious now, takes a deep breath and says, "
I like this website and pub because it allows people to explore ideas without fear of censure or making an error. This website may be like the beginning of a new enlightenment where the entire world can participate and explore ideas."

"One could probably state that ever since the age of reason began, most thinking has been guided by fear of error rather than search for truth. This is not to say that being correct is not important, but that an exaggerated fear of error tends to hinder the development of new ideas."

"It is much easier to express one's theory or ideas on a subject with the advent of the Internet. Someone can change their virtual identity much quicker than their physical identity; hence, there is no fear of being typecast as a quack or a charlatan. Also, someone can get immediate feedback on their ideas, correct any problems, and present the modified idea."

"Though someone's idea or theory may be not be up to the standards of the intellectual community, there may be a new perspective, a new idea, a new technique, a new construction, a new solution to old problems that the intellectual community may have overlooked or never thought of."

"In a way, I understand the intellectual community; researchers have to worry about funding for their research and the opinion of their peers. It is much more difficult for someone with so much at stake to explore ideas that others may not agree with."

"Its like the ying and the yang, you need both intellectual scrutiny and creativity. When intellectual scrutiny dominates one gets uniformity of thought that hinders progress, when creativity dominates one cannot distinguish between ideas or theories that may be closer to truth and those that are not."

Feeling much better now deloprator looks over at the bartender and says, "I like a beer now please!".

Thumbs down Re: Why I Like This Website - 11-28-2006, 03:24 PM

Deplorer watches the time machine for more visitors. Zap!

Jon walks in a calm union of energy.

Sit downs. Thinks about how to plan his next move.

By this time he has turned on his super Interdimensional System. and he slips back out the door of time.
