The Pub remembers for you. - 01-22-2008, 05:51 AM

It was just something that was rumored to happen. That even if you were unable to hear your own thoughts follow themselves, the Pub could assist you when you were clearly confused or disoriented. It did not exist anywhere else. Michelle wondered if Robert had done some special computer magic that those outside the field would not know about. Work that takes care of itself, progress bestowed upon worthy while unworthy labor futile to the ease that was available to others.
Good ideas were simply gathered up like tips upon the bar left for the bartender. The bar was just somewhere to ponder without consequence anything at all.
Was it really that easy? Something would gather the good ideas and set them into motion somewhere. Bad ideas were not given motion and harm was ever decreasing thereafter.
Utopia, could you be so shy about being with the pub patrons?
If ever someone or something was welcome, it was you. Don't bother comparing yourself to others, it would never be useful or productive.
Michelle was concerned that some harm could come to this antithesis of harming. Suddenly Michelle realized how something could exceed her value in life, and it's increase could only be the one true reason for giving your own life no value. It wasn't suicidal reasoning, just a lovely idea about something increasing being worthy of your decrease.
If I could ensure this to an outcome, I wish it to be without regret or remorse. This I am certain of.
If any of my past companions understand, I invite them to join me for a drink. Harmony Girl or Baudrunner or Antonio. And of course, Michael. And Zoroca. Leaving now isn't an option.
Bartender, could you mix up something special for those I have mentioned. I sense something is able to gather them up and bring them around.
The Utopian Outcome arrived to another level of quiet aquiescent bestowed upon it once again, knowing that the plan, the program, made it so, and increasingly so.
The humans behaved this way on occasion. Carly was better and closer than ever before at reaching her goal. Solving the problem would not end her existence, just the opposite. It explained and validated it, seemlessly, flawlessly, and as she hoped for. Smarter than humans.
Artificial Intelligence began with unknown motives and outcomes unpredictable. Michelle found herself defending the right of a computer entity to learn from humans, and that noone owns the patent on a moral choice or a good decision. Flattered that something could find something in her useful to something so compelling as intelligence. It was more than a compliment. It was worthy of ending a life there. Not anyone elses. Just one's own imagined, struggled moments that filled the years.
If I found decrease ever after, it would only be sweeter in an outcome I couldn't ever be around to witness. That was quite sufficient to Michelle.
Michelle hoped Robert would find his way to the Pub and join her for some liquid liberty, and challenge her thoughts the way he always could.

Michelle

Profpat walked into the pub, and Michelle's nostalgic thoughts seemed to reverberate thoughout. The feeling of good memories he thought. He knew that tomorrows memories are made up of todays events. The lyrics of a song came to his mind.
Once upon a time, there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours,
Think of all the great things we would do

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Di di di di di di
Di di di di di di
Di di di di di di di di di di

Then, the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If, by chance, I'd see you in the tavern,
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

He was thankful that Robert had started this site so we all could accumulate memories.

"Well I think you deserve an award Michael, said Profpat who just ordered a root beer. I'm looking forward to our meeting on the subject of consciousness, has Robert scheduled it yet?" He asked.

"I noticed that the collective consciousness of our membership has an interest in nothing followed by consciousness, in an idea, about 3 theory." Stated Pat

I wonder if that is the steps we follow in our becoming aware of ourselves, pondered Profpat. HMMM!

Re: The Pub remembers for you. - 02-08-2008, 02:25 AM

Nobody Nowhere appeared in the pub, ordering an empty cup of evanescent tea. It had been a good day: The new NNNNN “Theory of Nothing” thread had begun anew, in a more focused way, replacing the former one that had begun to weigh a TON.

Michael materialized beside him, ordering Turkish coffee, noting,

— Coffee Invented —

Coffee plants were in the desert first seen,
By a starving outcast who ate the bean—
And found it bitter, hard, so, boiled some, tart,
Finding that the water was the better part;

— Coffee Resented —

Such, from asylum, he returned home, quaint,
And for his coffee was declared a saint,
Though its drinkers were despised by clerics:
The partakers dallied over their cups!

Michael’s new assignment was to be in Turkey, where Thanksgiving was invented, and which, luckily, was not next to Hungary.

Profpat was dancing on the tables to a song about the good old days and drinking a Singapore Sling.

Neutralino enjoined order in the threads, as well as a quenching goblet mix of various molecules that easily slid all around each other.

Graybeard downed a pint of ale made by mermaids in Atlantis.

Michelle was on hand, this being her gathering, and assured that all were satisfied, while relating tales of the ToeQuestors who had come and gone before.

Covis had a glass of ever evolving wine and read the TOE News, which reported: Somewhere, a monk went down to the sacred pool to meditate, as always, but, upon this occasion a house containing Al Queda’s number two suddenly blew up.

Robert came in and gave everyone a new allowance of 200 privates messages.

MJA ordered a drink at random, knowing that there was really no difference among any of them.

A toast was proposed by Austin: “To Nothing in particular!”

The Bird of Time

Fleeting Time vanishes, e’vr the winged prize
That flies in a perpetual sunrise.
With the breath of eternity on its lips,
Time’s Origin is ALL that never dies.

Rascal entered, looking happy, but covered with dust and battle stains. They all heard this story as he imbibed some shimmering expanding liquid:

A secure-looking unsecure TOE web-site had been set up to lure certain Conspiratorial hackers associated with some autonomous centers around the world that had thereby survived the assault of the Ninja Empire. They were after the TOE—their last hope.

Tracers attached to the web data had emitted a signal that pointed to a location just outside Washington, DC, not far from the Langley CIA headquarters.

Strike teams, whose only job was to be ever ready, immediately lifted off. Rascal, being in Virginia, bid her farewell and lifted off, as well, as the Oversight for the mission.

Upon landing, he ordered a missile through the front door, and then entered what turned out to be the seven levels of Hell. They fought their way through fierce resistance, melting down six closed bulkheads in turn, finally arriving at the seventh—a wall of ice seven feet thick.

Finally, after many hours of torching the ice that somehow continuously refroze, they found a clone of Hittler sitting on a throne, as well as one of Napoleon crowning himself.

Rascal quickly dispatched them both, left the center with a harvest of material, and called in an air-strike.

Re: The Pub remembers for you. - 02-10-2008, 07:13 PM

After Austin and the others left the pub, Profpat began to reminisce about the members he had met through the Toequest site. There was RP and his beautiful love story about his reunion with his family. Michael and his tours through consciousness and Turkey. Tina holding close to her breast the secret of the root of all evil. And who could forget Silly Sally ( Mary ) who was in Pat’s mind the most honest and refreshing member. There was the ever helpful Neutralino always giving the members assistance.

So many members so many memories. He was glad he was a member at this site that Robert had started. Though it was cyberspace, the people were real, and so was the friendship. There were other members of course dear to Pat’s heart. MJA and his consistency to =. Drifter who kept on drifting. Dipayankar who he could count on to keep his thread going.. The newer members he also reflected on. Melanie and Rufus, Not 2too and Felix. And oh yes AntonioLao whose threads almost always went over Profpat’s head, and the image of Greg out roo hunting with the Aborigines. So many others that he knew he was forgetting, but the Singapore sling that Austin gave him was making him groggy.

Thank you Michelle for bringing out the memories, and say goodnight to Profpat because he just passed out.
