Baudrunner stumbles to the stage while, with great effort, managing to avoid spilling all of his beer which he is drinking on the way. He steps to the stage, walks to the microphone and says to the crowd.
"Hello all,
You are all invited to visit me here
As I savor this first and always delicious beer
Of many more I suspect I may
Indulge in, on this most auspicious day
It's my birthday! Buy me one.
Historically in this part of the world - this being Canada - June 27 has become the springboard date for a long weekend-long party to celebrate Confederation Day, that day in 1867 - July 1st to be exact, which is a national holiday, and heretofore known as Canada Day - where you will find in the parks of any Canadian city a PARTY! Gauranteed! Face it, we Canadians are party animals, and I have always enjoyed the long end of the stick because June 27 also happens to be the anniversary of my birth, another auspicious occasion, at least, to my mind. There's a three day long Rib Fest in Centennial Park just up the street from where I am now, and the Chin International Picnic - free pop and hot dogs - is world famous, on the Exhibition Grounds just a short ride away, this conming Tuesday. Gawd, this is a great city!
Fireworks all weekend and the first of July at Ontario Place at the Ex, and especially here in Toronto they have become a great tradition and viewable from any of the many beaches that line the waterfront. Really, really impressive. Come on over, if you can, and have fun.
Join me in a 'toest'.
Have a great summer, everyone!" Feeling himself lose his balance, baudrunner quickly sits down on the stage and lifts his beer for the toest. He then brings the beer to his mouth and leans his head back while he drinks the remainder of his beer. His mouth is unable to keep up with the flow of beer and the excess spashes over his face but he doesn't seem to notice. "There is nothing permanent except change"
