Light and Shadow, lore structure.

1)The beginning. Era of The First Dawn.

In the beginning it said that all things living or of light were one, and all things of destruction or darkness were one. Only these two things or entities existed, where they were not, was void. The darkness is driven by a hunger to consume that which is living, but without one, there cannot be the other. The elves have explained this to man as, we would not know of day if there were no night, known to them as (E: No darkness, no light) The two are called whole light, and empty shadow.

The darkness tries to prove that it is stronger than the light, and it wraps itself many times around the light on all sides like water would a stone dropped into a body of it. This dark entity assumes that it has an advantage and begins to channel its energy and destroy the light. The light wishes not to destroy nor harm the other entity which is trying to consume it but, it wishes to show its strength. So, to prove to the dark entity that it cannot be consumed, it expands out at a blinding rate. When it does so, parts of the darkness are taken with it. In the process of it's expansion, parts from the whole are separated and spread out. But there is a bond among these parts, they would come together again and take shape as stars and planets or the heavens. This is what the elves call, The First Dawn.

As the WL sent itself out, it also sent parts of ES out with it. Small parts of ES would fall unto everything, trying to consume it, but it had spread itself too thin and could not wrap all which had been created in this way. It also has a bond unto itself, and in the void it would summon itself from the whole. It seeks to consume the WL never ending. Where the WL is great in number in the heavens, the ES gathers itself there, and gives strength to the bond of the WL unto itself, that it may gather it up and wrap itself around it. This is known as the Endless Hunger.

2) Angels or Guardians

The WL saw beauty in the stars, but could not share this with the ES, for it did not see creation as beauty, it saw beauty in their destruction. When seeing the beauty of the stars, the WL sought to create more than just smaller parts of its energy. In realizing this, it sought to create smaller parts of its mind. And so it created that of itself, but lesser which would come to be known as Guardians.

And the WL would tell to the Guardians of it's “sadness” that it could not share of its creation with the ES. Guardians shared a bond with the WL and born within them its power, and followed its order, but their minds closed off from it, but not it to them. One of them came to ask the question, if the sadness comes from not being able to share with your creation, of that which does not know of it, how are we born of you to fill it? The WL already knew of this question, and said that its creation was not yet done.

3) Birth

So, the WL spoke the guardians, and with its words gave to them the ability to make life that would take shape, growing adding to the beauty that would come from it, but not of its mind. And so became things that which flew, swam, crawled, walked, and bloom on many of the parts that would become known as worlds. And being of the WL such things also had the ability to create life, but only unto themselves.

But not being of mind from the WL, these things did not have the ability to see its beauty. And of the many creations made from the WL words by the guardians, the WL began to touch some of them, changing their shape and giving to them part a mind unto their own. In the minds of such things touched(E: for touch/touched in this meaning) the WL did not place in them a knowledge of itself but so gave them the ability to find the WL known as free will. In doing this, it would be able to share its beauty with another entity, even if lesser. The WL knew in doing that such things would also be able to find ES.

4) Un-birth

The First who first questioned of sadness asked if WL had found joy in what the Guardians had created, and the WL told them of how it touched such creations and made the with mind but apart, and by doing so had found such joy. These things would also be able to share in this joy when they found The Path to the WL mind. TF returned to the WL and asked, can I not be made to share in this joy known to such things touched and the WL? The WL told TF that it would not destroy what it had created, for it was not its nature, and to do so it would destroy TF.

So again TF went out into creation, and looked upon such things with sadness and withquestion. It was in this time that the ES came to TF. It told TF that it could give unto him this the joy which the WL would not. TF questioned how, by giving of fully the path to its mind. It was but a moment when TF agreed to be touched by ES and this became known as the Un-birth.

The First became known to the Guardians then as Deceiver. When the ES touched TF remaking him the Deceiver, it did not remove what the WL had given to him, so he could go out into to creation and make things corrupt. And so the D did go out into creation and makes things new which were of the ES and touched things of the WL to make them corrupt. In his vanity, the Deceiver would even go before the WL still, making claim of the strength of the ES, trying to sway the mind of whomever would hear his words.

5) The Great Learning.

The guardians came to the elves when the WL made this known to them and that of the beginning in song, and gave to them the gift of the WL. As had the Deceiver gone out and gave of the curse of the ES. With this gift the elves came to know of no death from life, but could so give their life, or have it taken. Within the elves was a great capacity for wisdom and knowledge. The guardians warned that the Deceiver would come to them, more beautiful than they did appear and tell of great power and wisdom than they already know.

The Guardians gave knowledge to elves that where an Unknown hand would try to destroy them and the things of their world, that a greater hand which they know would give them strength to protect what has been created, until the time when all things should come to be made whole again within the light. It was during this period that the elves built the great hall that would become known as the Hall of Lost Words, to store scrolls of song and word of the guardians. For the songs carried with them vast vibrations and sound.

The elves questioned if they might be destroyed in protecting their world and the Guardians gave answer, in what would become know as, The Great Riddle, In a great death one might find a great life. The elves studied the riddle long,(This would be known to them as the Seeking of Truth) but could not seek from the guardians if their answer was correct, for the guardians told them they must be left unto themselves, and would only see them by two means. It is said in great times, they might be seen yet again, but only to carry out a task given to them by the WL, and would no longer hold great song and talk with the elves.

The elves in this time sought the answer out in everything among the heavens and of the world. It was during this time they discovered many things of creation to include man and beast, and their numbers were divided over the world. This was known to them as the Era of Knowledge. They made record of such things in the Hall of Lost Words. They also place in it stones of different elements which resonated of the great power that came from the WL and ES alike.

5) The Era of Alignment

After the elves had discovered knowledge of most things, they began to notice movement in the shadows. They were uncertain of that which did move, and it was believed to be the Deceiver. They had a sense of vibration unknown to them and grew weary of its meaning. As this vibration seemed to begin coming from more things in the world, the elves held great debates over the course of action that would be taken.

This debate which lasted some number of years, as the passage of time known to man, but was no more than ten. This became known as the Great Gathering. It was decided by most, to go back out into the word and share of this warning from the guardians. They sought make a pact with beings and creatures of some mind to make stand against what may come from the ES.

It was also during this time that some of such beings made known that they had already taken side with the ES. Some made this known with warning and some made this known through act. Some time after this, occurred The First War. Not all things, to include elves made a pact to stand. Some things searched out to make themselves hidden. A group of elves lead by one known as Father Sky, said to be the first to take shape, left the world and made sanctuary in a place unknown. This came to be called the Departure.

7) Era of The First War.

The First War was a great battle of magic and power among the many different beings of creation. The elves lead the side of the WL under a unified banner that would become known as the Banner of the Sun. And as some men would do all but anything to find such power, which they knew they elves to have, sought this from promise of the Deceiver. They were made to lead the side of ES under banner of The Dying Light.

There were many a great beast and beings of the elements, which had vast strength by means of wind, fire, earth, water, light, and shadow. When some of them struck down elves in the Era of alignment with their great power. The elves realized that their magic alone would be not near enough to defeat such things. The recalled of the songs sung unto them by the guardians of their greatest of gift and ability, wisdom.

They began to use the knowledge of things in the world, and through their great study of such things, were able to fashion them in craftsmanship to weapons and tools. The weapons and tools had the ability to channel and focus energies into the elves and increase their power. To do this the elves built five great spires, one of each elemental force but not that of shadow.

It is atop the spire where the elves would seek to focus on these energies and study them. At the base were great forges, looms, anvils, and other such tools that they might channel the energies into items with the power of their magic. This process began during the Era of Alignment, and has carried on since. The first battle of many in this time of war would become known as, The Battle of Foresight.

Era of Stillness.

After many thousands of years of war, the elves and those under the Banner of the Sun had lost many. Many types are believed to be forever lost to the world, unless some yet lay ... in hiding. This was a great time of pain, sorrow and loss for all. Even though the forces which had been made by the Deceiver were great, they were yet defeated, but at a great cost. The number of all things with magic were reduced.

It was in the time of pain that the Deceiver wove a web of trickery to a group of elves of the lands far south. In their pain they were not able to see through his deceptions. He came to them caring, as to be one of the guardians of WL he once was. He made song with them of the pain in their hearts, and bid them to no longer come into the light of day, but only come out in light of moon and stars … that they might look to the heavens and search for the fallen in the echo of stars.

His grip was but tightened when a band of men seeking to honor thy elves were met with anger, for it was by the twisted hearts of men many of their loved ones had fell. He again came to them and spoke to them that such men, should have taken from them the gift which they used without wisdom, and promised them that harm would again befall them during the light of day. After some six thousand years time, not coming into the sun had changed the look of the elves and some skin was pale as snow, others skin had grown very dark.

The deceiver came to them yet again, but this time he did not wear the mask of a guardian, nor did those that came with him, for they were men as he appeared and so tainted by his words. He lead them into (town/city name) during the light of day, and they begin to slay those that slept beginning first with the youngest of elves they could find. The cry heard there was great, and then a great sound of rage did come from the elves who slain all the men, made to look like that of a near by port city known as (--------)

That night the Deceiver would come to them as himself, and make a case that they had been forsaken by the light, and the shadow would have not allowed such a tragedy to befall them. In their blind rage, these elves did agree to open up their minds to him as to accept the path of shadow. When they did, they became something else, known to the other elves as The Vile. On this night The Vile laid siege on to the human port, killing all who were not able to flee. They killed and raged in a never before seen way, most malicious and vile. Thet would rip and tear the flesh of humans with the hands and teeth, washing themselves in their blood and drink of it.

Once they had lay waste to all that were left in the city(some dwarfs and elves of other bonds were there, and able to flee the onslaught) they made a monument unto the Deceiver for giving them the means to their new power, and built a shadow spire. It was made of the bones of the great many slain and cast a great shadow over the land that would be renamed Heart of Darkness. And so would be called the Black Dawn.

9) Era of Second Dawn.

It has been some three thousand years since the birth of the Vile. And once again, the elves of light notice movement within the shadows, and there is something else. It's not quite yet a sound or a tone, but more like a feight echo which does not yet ring true. Things all about are moving. There are old whipsers rustling the leaves of trees with a new wind. It is now the time where the tale of of Light & Shadow begins.

In the defeat of the first war, the Deceiver saw the weakness of the ES forces being that it had not elves and begin to plot on how to turn but some of them to once again wage war. Need to work on a time structure on which to determine if but vaguely the length of one Era versus another. Also, need to rework the age of elves already mentioned in light and shadow.
