Yes, learning should be fun, whenever and wherever possible.

Despite poor conditions for venturing out on the trail, Caramel and I had a productive session in the yard, doing basic moves under saddle, and teaching her to back up and bend at the same time, so as to back in a circle around a barrel. Before long, she will be able to describe a tight arc around the barrel, in either direction, while moving backwards.

I know people who would be challenged to do so, lol...

A harmonious afternoon, which calls for a harmonious song.

Here's something from the Lion King lineup.

    This one had me giggling....

On rare occasion, do I chafe at the circumstances I observe and marvel that people do not do more to exercise the many options that are available to them.

Yes, sometimes would I gladly don a costume and go....

    Freaking The Mundanes

(While the chorus gets a bit tiresome, each verse is unique, and I defy most people to spit out some of the sentences, as many of the phrases are tongue-twisters, lol)

You must have patience to do that and I'm certain it takes some learning to communicate with them in a manner they understand too. Nice work and I hope her training goes well

Does jumping over a barrel count?

I'm having some fun with that thought, Steve....you on the end of a longe line, and myself with the lunge whip. (Used as a cue only, not for striking, to allay your concerns....)

Too funny. When the footing is good, I lay three barrels over on their side, lay them end to end, and lock them with a pole on each side to prevent them from rolling. Then I exercise the horse on a line, in large circles and they jump over the barrels on each lap.

This teaches them position, balance, and looking ahead to gauge their approach, as well as the ability to maintain the bend of their body throughout each stride, as they maintain the arc of the circle. I work them in both directions and on circles of differing size, sometimes at a trot and other times at a canter. Great way to train a horse before adding the encumbrance of a rider's weight.

May I return the compliment. Delightful song. Very interesting percussion and I can't quite decide what that tinkling instrument is, that sounds much like one of my wind chimes...

Feel up for a couple dances?

Here are a couple dance scenes from movies.

I think that one fogged up my glasses! LOL

(The volume is low on this second one, but I always enjoy Steve Martin movies)

So, are you one of those relatively rare fellows who actually enjoys participating in dance, Steve? Most fellows need enough liquid fortification prior to said venture, that assessing their skills on the dance floor falls into question, lol...

A pity really, as dance is one of the public venues where one can acceptably display energy and emotion of diverse range.

Some years back, I was commandeered as a designated driver. A lady friend's boyfriend had his brother in town and they needed a spare companion, preferably female.

Went dancing at a local country bar and this fellow could two-step, like silk on glass. Turned out he was a professional First Nations Traditional dancer and competed Internationally.

The Tango is a dance I have always wanted to learn, but as yet, the opportunity has not presented. Still on my list, though. The Merengue looks like high energy and a lot of fun too, as long as one does not have to pick up the tab for too many chandeliers, lol...

Here is another Tango from Al Pacino in Scent Of A Woman.

The Tango is a dance of many forms, and this one, while less intense, is subtle and electric also.

Hand me the liquid fortification ... that might not even be enough

I don't go to parties or do much dancing, but once I'm having fun, I'm often one of the last to leave! It's just getting out of that comfort zone.

    How about you?

A pity really, as dance is one of the public venues where one can acceptably display energy and emotion of diverse range.

So did you help assure he had a partner to dance with? LOL

(P.S. I can dance better than a 3 legged horse)

The Tango is a dance I have always wanted to learn, but as yet, the opportunity has not presented. Still on my list, though. The Merengue looks like high energy and a lot of fun too, as long as one does not have to pick up the tab for too many chandeliers, lol...
Yes, it does look like quite a bit of fun though it would definitely take some work to learn ... then again there are worse forms of "work"
