Remembrance Day is no celebration of War.
Rather, it is a reflection on the past.
It is said, that if we forget the mistakes of our past.....
Then we are doomed to repeat them.
There are many people alive today, who have blessedly, never known war, or the call to duty, or the loss of a loved one.
And yet, war has never ended.
Around the globe, war rages on. Many of us are insulated from this reality.
Even in the obscurity of the little populated north, it was not so many years ago, that battles were fought over traditional hunting grounds, the vanquished taken to serve or claimed for wives.
No, this day of remembrance is not one of celebration.
As the granddaughter of a Colonel who fought in WW1, who watched his favorite daughter marry a soldier from East Germany, the same man who became a Canadian citizen and a Canadian soldier, I am a child of the conjoin of conflict.
Grandfather embraced this circumstance, though none may know at what pain, and did his best to give me his best knowledge to avoid conflict.
The best battles are those that are never fought, that may be mediated with respect and trust and love, though there may be many points on which the parties may not agree.
The middle path....

So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...
Yes, interactions of understanding instead of fear, even if it's just understanding the differences, and the results of that can be beautiful. Despite the rainbow of people and personalities, most everyone wants the same thing in the end.Originally Posted by Labelwench

(Ok, we've still got enough problems in the world that THAT's not how things will be any time soon, but hey, maybe someday we'll figure it out ...)
Here's something by Michael Buble, rather a jazz type song, a bit off the path of my usual listening...

I noticed in this video they ask the viewer to pick a number from 2 to 9 and then do some calculations beginning with it.
I didn't figure out the who sequence, but I know what "the trick" is for the math. Can someone figure out what it is? (They basically force you to end up with a single number - can you figure out how)
