Re: Pub songs: Now Playing: (_________)

I thought this was an excellent song to follow the previous Edwina Hayes number with. The road keeps stretching ahead and we follow it from bend to bend, overcoming challenges and adversity as they come along in search of our day in the sun.

A white knuckle drive home from work this morning, lol... top speed 70 kph. The weather calved around 6:30 a.m. and started to rain and snow mixed with high winds. The parking lot turned into a skating rink within minutes and the highways are slushy with the plows running two abreast trying to keep the slop pushed off. I'm not looking forward to tonight if the temperature drops. I don't know which vehicle I'll take yet. The car is under cover while the truck is presently covered with a protective layer of snow from a few days ago, somewhat insulating it from the crud that is presently descending. If I brush it off now, this wet stuff could make it hard to get into the vehicle. (I have seen where it look a lighter to heat the key to get into the lock, the whole vehicle glazed completely over. ) If the wet freezes on top of the other it will still be nasty to get the windshield clear tonight.

I guess I'll wait and make the decision tonight. If I get to the highway and the hair on the back of my neck stands on end, I'll just turn around and head it home. I didn't reach this point in life by making rash decisions.

So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

Given the choice of life being a meaningless blur of collisions with random "stuff" or having something else to at least hang on to, I'd have to assume it's better with some order and an ability to recognize and appreciate signs with meaning beyond a simple blank-stare-it-is-what-it-is.

On the other hand, being dominated by those is a dead-end cul de sac as well, so I think you expressed it well with this:

... and you're able to appreciate the value of that too. Maybe we don't truly need street signs, but they sure can be useful at times and following them is a game plan I generally prefer (but if they're used in abusive, constrictive and unnecessary ways, then that could be an alternate sign saying some need to be torn down )

I didn't reach this point in life by making rash decisions.
The only thing that appears to be completely "built to last", as this song title says, is really the figurative cul-de-sacs.

Though it could be that with some minimal care and attention paid over time, decent stuff could last for quite a while ... who knows how long? I guess it's a matter of keeping an eye on the road and though personally I think the 'top level' driver is blind, that's not really important to the rest us. We should be able to do something better ... lots of good ideas and play books around but I think they've all got their limits. Probably the single most important thing for hanging out together for a while is just to have at least one thing of value in common and words may fail to add more than some entertaining highlights.

If all the fluff was gone, what's really important? That seems a good question to consider. I liked the last comments in the video - forever or a year seems irrelevant as to the manner in which some things should be treated. If it's more than a cul de sac and worth hanging on to, then it may be best paying at least some minimal care and attention, in which case "a year" seems a perfectly good reply and ironically could be what turns one into two.

I love it when things come together in agreement on occasion and there's a sign or two worth taking a second look at.

Enjoy what you can of the weather there, Lorinna. It does seem a good idea to hang on to that lighter in case a lock gets frozen over, but hopefully it won't be needed. Until ... well, whenever (doesn't seem like I'm having much luck holding on to more than half the commitments I've been making so I'm going to make fewer commitments - it's easier to be able to follow through with being flaky and unreliable LOL! )

I came across this rather unusual little number and thought it might be both interesting and entertaining to post....

So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

In the mood for a little song and dance are we?

Here's a rather intriguing little number.

I would say you are welcome, but perhaps, you bare more responsibility than I.

Only time for one selection, as it's time to hit horizontal hold. Ingrid Michaelson does quite a variety of music. Here's one that I just came across by her.
