Re: Pub songs: Now Playing: (_________)

Off to spend time with the wild bunch, lol....

So many flavors in life, so little time.....
    Live life, without regret,.....Later.....

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I cant let you slide through my hands

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldnt drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I dont have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Lets do some living after we die

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, well ride them some day

Wild horses couldnt drag me away
Wild, wild horses, well ride them some day
So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

Re: Pub songs: Now Playing: (_________)

A moderately tall figure walked in, rain dripping from her wide-brimmed oil skin hat, likewise the long drover's coat, which covered her person to the top of neoprene rubber boots.

The bartender, Robert, asked after her pleasure.... "Armagnac. 'Tis a day to nurse one's drink and ponder the imponderable," she replied, her equine companions all sheltered from the elements, munching on hay at the stable.

She took the brandy snifter from Robert, and sought a table from which she would have clear view of her surroundings.

She smiled at the tune which Robert flashed up on the large screen to keep her company in the interim....

Racecar returned from the black hole, without a tune in her head. She slid next to Lablewench, asked for an Arnold Palmer, wondering about her old hat while resting her chin on the palm of her hand....

Re: Pub songs: Now Playing: (_________)

"Why, hello Racey," greeted the woman in the drover coat, raising an eyebrow at the mixture in her friend's glass.

"Robert, do you have Bailey's Irish Cream, Amaretto Almond Liqueur and whipped cream in this fine establishment? Do you know the correct proportions for the shooter drink made from same?"

Robert raised an eyebrow, in the traditional Vulcan manner. Without cracking a smile, he began,"Madam is desirous of the shooter known as a Blow ---"....

"A Gentleman's Dream, such is called, Robert",and 'Wench flashed him a conspiratorial smile.

"A Gentleman's Dream, indeed," assented Robert, both eyebrows now in motion.

"Half a dozen, set 'em up, please, Robert", and then surprise me with something interesting from that panel of yours...".

She turned back to Racecar, slipping her now dry Outback hat onto her friend's head. Racecar struck a rakish pose.

"Oh yes, Racey, that look is definitely your wild side!"

Robert was generously putting the finishing touch on the shooters, defying gravity by the amount of whipped cream he was dispensing.

Now if only Austie, Graham, that dancing demon Meem and a few others would drop in, life could get very entertaining indeed....

Meem walks up to the bar, "I need a drink."

Robert gives a hawk eyed glance, "clearly this is understood, but what escapes us is your flavor."

Meem stretches his arms full out, hands pressed against the glowing, smooth, stone edge of the bar ... a deep breath in, and slowly out through the nose ... eyes open ...
"How about a Long Island Iced-Tea. Oh, and if you don't mind ... and a few slices of fresh peach."

Meem looks over and notices a news story on CNN about the British releasing UFO report files. He thinks to himself, "only an illusion ... like they would release "the good stuff."

Meem speaks up to Race and Label a few spots over, "hey, who let the music die?"

Her eyes did sparkle and gleam, "Music is both absence and presence", cried the Lustywench!

Racecar practically burned with anticipation, her dissolute demeanor cause for concern...

Re: Pub songs: Now Playing: (_________)

Race and Label each offer Meem one of the shooter drinks. He ponders this minor dilemna while listening to American Pie.

Err the song ends, he has come to the only sensible solution. He accepts both gifts and downs them in quick succession, resulting in a whip cream mustache.

Before he can raise a hand, Race leans toward him, and with a deft and gentle hand, wipes the cream from his lip with her finger, which she then enjoys herself.

Meem has no recourse but to follow her to the dance floor, a fast paced bubble-gum rock song now playing.

Label, by subtle signal, indicates to Robert that she would like "follow-up".

They enjoy a cartoon and some chat, while Meem, a not unwilling companion, catches his breath.

At her cue, Robert flashes up a Van Morrison classic and Label extends her hand to Meem. "Okay fella, I've seen that you have the moves, now let's see if you can put them together. Let's see if we can jive without trashing the pub....."

"oh, and you ... a brown eyed girl."

This is a lyric Meem will never forget. He gets the jive, and he wonders how it would be possible to trash a pub with such fine people inside of it.

Meem gives a nod to Robert, and the predetermined spin, spins, not once but twice. Some people make time, some people take time.

The lights dim, and the tempo slows down a bit. Meems speaks up at request to the tune ...

    http://smej.se/someone_like_you_van_morrison.482e

Meem looks over to Robert ... "What is the cost of this dance, of this beverage?" Meem glances at Label, "did you ask for a tall drink of water?"
