undef00 sure was noticing the beauty of the waitress as she after a more or less friendly request from undef00 was bringing while smiling a large beer to undef00 - undef00 thinks rather quiet: why is beauty just relative and not absolute? for me absolute beauty is for example the "girl" i once kind of married - sure we got kind of divorced again - but the beauty still exists- absolute beauty also is if i'm using my phantasy (undef00 further says thanks to hisself for having such great phantasy driven dreams while sleeping) and try to imagine how a star may be born or going to die (undef00 further concludes: why do humans do like watching supernovas - it is rather an end instead of an beginning - sure we would like to see one every day somewhere close-but sure we wouldn't like our own sun see to die even if escaped just in time) - i'm just looking at what i could see with my eyes- undef00 takes another nip from his glas of beer while trying to get another view of some beauty in reality and within reach of his eyes ....sure he ended up starring at the waitress again - but what happened now? undef00 screams out loud: absolutely disgraceful is if you try to infiltrate your theories into someone else mind and ESPECIALLY if you do tell people if you don't follow "virtual rules" you may be punished - undef00 got an idea - unbelieveable as it is rather rare in undef00's life - undef00 has heard of recent research activities which may enable you to control human mind - it just lacks power currently - that meaning: it only works with people not able using a mind of their own - but on the other hand the good news are: this device isn't going to hurt and also if applied to you for example you won't even notice - just the environment to which it is not applied will notice that dumb theories on a large scale just dissolve as time passes by -the other problem is it also lacks logistics and just works currently on a rather short isolated distance - so it can't be applied on global basis+++ (undef00 now knows what he has to do - he will take training courses as a technican - sure that just if he can stand people telling what/how to do things - sure undef00 further assumes i rather start my own thing from scratch-or i give it up again - as it was just an idea and someone else with the same idea might come up a little later or is already a technican)- undef00 now rather relaxed says in appropriate volume - now thanks dog that i never believed in god. and undef00 further says: thanks to you waitress for smiling even if i cannot understand why you're smiling while bringing a beer - so - now undef00 wants to know the real truth of everything thats important- and undef00 orders another beer- and sure it doesn't take long and the waitress appears in front of undef00 with a glas of beer und smiles - undef00 asks the waitress: can you please honstely explain to me why you're smiling again?
undef00 wants to be "it" that meaning instead for him for himself it for itself
undef00 it is thinking - it was just a nip too much beer for it
next time it will go with cherry-juice

The waitress is no longer smiling when undef00 re-enters the pub because he did not leave her a tip. But now the waitress sees undef00 and smiles at him again, thinking that he has returned to leave her a tip. undef00 returns to his chair while mumbling something about following the rules, but stumbles and ends up on the floor like so many other patrons of past. The waitress helps undef00 back into his chair and brings him some cherry juice.
The waitress smiles at the pub's patrons not because she wants a larger tip but she enjoys hearing all the stories her customers tell. Many of her customers come from parallel universes and enter the pub confused, not knowing where they are. When she explains that they are in the Many Worlds Pub at the hub of reality, their eyes grow large as they quickly down their drinks. The waitress is especially thrilled whenever Robert comes in for a drink. She finds Robert to be very attractive but she is afraid to come between Robert and his companions Mrs Potato Head and Picasso Woman, not to mention Carly the chatbot. What would it be li...
"Why you are smiling me?". The waitress is snapped out of her fantasy. "What did you say?" she says to undef00. "Why you smile me?" undef00 slurs to the waitress. Of course, she is smiling because of her fantasy with Robert, but she cannot tell undef00 this. She says, "I am smiling at the memory of the last supernova I watched". The waitress notices with alarm that undef00 has his fingers to his temples and is making a face of intense concentration, as if trying to control her with his mind. The waitress is bewildered by this and quickly goes to the ladies room to calm down a bit and to add some fresh makeup. And then, as the waitress is calmed by the soothing sound of music, the fantasy of being with Robert starts again as the waitress's smile returns. "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

Michelle ponders deeply, "Ah, the mystery is finally solved as to why there is a male dominated ratio in the forums. All the women are in the pub, the hub of reality has turned into a hub of fantasy for the women from which they cannot escape. Here magnetism flourishes and pulsates, permeating the atmosphere and the minds of unsuspecting females." Michelle suddenly realizes, "I thought all I wanted was a margarita. Free will was not present in this reality."
The neon sign over the bar spoke volumes. Determinism Hour. At least for an hour, the drinks would make sense.

The bartender walks over to Michelle and says, "Lady, you are not following the Rules of the Pub", as he points to the sign next to the door. The bartender continues, "You may only speak in the third person here. That is the rule". Michelle looks at the bartender wide-eyed and jaw dropped. "Now, will that margarita be frozen or on ice?". The bartender waits patiently for Michelle's reply. "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

Michelle looked intently into the bartender's eyes. He should have known that it didn't matter whether it was frozen or on ice.
"Frozen, please," Michelle replied.
The rules had always haunted her. Did she do it just to get his attention? Negative attention was a bad girl's favorite kind.
He blended up two and joined her for a rare drink while on duty. Perks of the job. He turned the sign off over the bar. Determinism hour was over. Free will and margaritas. Her AA meeting was in 3 hours. Good thing the drinks are only in the mind.

12-30-2005, 03:04 AM
Robert sits down at the table with Michelle, handing her a frozen margarita, and notices a strange calm overtake her as she takes her first drink. "Good Evening, Michelle". Robert enjoys meeting and drinking with his customers when business slows down. This one broke the rules; however, and Robert wonders if she does this often. It can be quite dangerous to break the rules here where threads of reality meet and dance for a time before parting ways for other times, other places. When disruptions occur, as they do from time to time, it is Roberts job to fix things, to make thinks right, to edit the threads and remove the ambiguities, avoid the paradoxes. It can be quite stressful at times but tonight all is well with the multiverse.
Robert thinks a moment and then asks Michelle, "Do you believe in free will, Michelle? Do you believe that we humans have the capacity to think an original thought? One that is not based on contextual cues, or habits of mind, or patterns of events?". This idea has been troubling to Robert for quite some time. Robert reaches for his margarita, but, where did it go? Did she? Yes. Michelle had already finished her margarita and was now drinking Roberts! This Michelle lady was turning out to be very interesting... "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

Michelle put down her margarita. She rarely drank more than one or two. She couldn't help but fear that she too would end up on the floor of the Many Worlds Pub.
"Robert," she replied. "If there were no free will, how do we account for evolution. I believe free will exists, but it is not always practical. It is rare and beautiful to experience, but is not the way of ordinary practice. It should be honored, encouraged in our youth, and recognized as much as the miracle of evolution is."
She was convinced that all things were possible, that free will exists, but that it was rare and precious, and private. Something as wonderful as original thought was also closely related to intimacy. That was difficult to share with anyyone.
"Does my logic offend you, Robert?, she asked. His intellect was as attractive as he was. There was more to Robert than meets the eye. Rare and precious. Shaking away the intimacy of the moment, she looked for his response. She was absolutely sure she did not know what to expect.

Robert looks at Michelle and wonders what influences of context, habits of thought and judgement, memories of childhood and traumas as a young teenager have come together at this moment in time to trigger in this attractive, yet deep-thinking woman, an automated response about free will, evolution, and intimacy.
Robert is confused about the connection between free will and evolution and wonders, "Could there be a connection? Have I overlooked this? Or is this just the margarita talking."
Michelle's logic did not offend Robert because he knew she did not have free will and was not responsible for the things she said. Yet Robert was intrigued.
Robert thought for a short while and noticed a look of anticipation and hope in Michelle's eyes. He says, "Michelle, how could you possibly know when you have experienced true free will and not some kind of automated response to the stimuli of context?". "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

She stared into her second margarita. This guy could make you forget to eat, she imagined. There was something beyond automated responses. She was not being forthcoming with the bartender. She wasn't sure, but there must be a rule against that.
