    Re: Movies and Books

I found a copy of McCucheon’s book, “The Final Theory”, in B&N. This is the book that was hyped by many as being a profound solution to the TOE that science failed to appreciate. Like the movie “Happening”, this book is pure crap! The author is a simpleton with absolutely no comprehension of physics what-so-ever. Now I know why I couldn’t find it in the library system.

You should have asked for your money back, racecar.

    Lightbulb Marjoe

I don't think anyone has mentioned Marjoe yet.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjoe

Marjoe is an 1972 Academy Award winning documentary film produced and directed by Howard Smith and Sarah Kernochan about the life of evangelist Marjoe Gortner. Marjoe was a precocious child preacher with extraordinary talents, who was immensely popular in the American South. His parents earned large sums of money off him up until the point he outgrew his novelty. Marjoe rejoined the ministry as a young adult solely as a means of earning a living part-time, and not as a believer. The film Marjoe documents his last revivals before coming out publicly as a non-believer. At the time of the film's release he generated considerable press, but the movie was never shown in theaters in the Southern United States, based on the fears of the distributor over the outrage it would cause in the Bible Belt.

I have yet to see the restored version my self.. Enjoy

    Re: Movies and Books

I find that academy award wining films usually mean some film designed as a soapbox for one of Hollywood’s elite SFB producers or directors.

As an atheist I would probably find this film filled with inspirational ignorance and stupidity.

Here is a Youtube link that may amuse you and maybe inspire you.

Watch all of them if you can.

    Re: Movies and Books

Hi all. Two movies that left lasting impressions with me are The Ox-Bow Incident (1943, Bill Wellman director). Written by Walter Van Tilburg. Little Big Man (1970, Arthur Penn director). I've read few books but The Cricket in Times Square written by George Selden and Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley are two that kept my attention.

Hi canteatpancakes...welcome to the forum!!!Why people define themselves by creationists or athiests is beyond me because does not our own life experience tell us our truths and is there not a right in this world to believe what you may and walk your own path..to each his own I say...
