    A question of Justice

If it was right to release the Lockerbie bomber from prison,
who then should be kept in prison, anyone?

It is called 'compassionate release' which is written down in British law. I agree with the release, since it is not a matter of 'justice' but is more 'revenge' to keep someone locked up who is destined to die in a matter of months, and is living in constant pain.

Then who should be justly and compassionately not released and kept locked up in a painful jail?

It's not painful for the majority of the population to be locked up in jail. Compassionate release exists for these exact situations; namely, when it is no longer humane to keep someone locked up because they will die imminently.

Well that imminence that you speak of is imminently equal for everyone. Surely everone will die. So then again who should be humanely kept locked up and who should be compationately released if the reason for imminent death can and should be now ruled out?
