How about a bunch of us sharing a common USA staple, Meatloaf?! EVERYBODY has a family recipe. We made it last night:
1 egg
4 oz. of tomato sauce
a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 Cup of chopped (yellow) onions
1 lb. of ground beef
2/3 stack of saltine crackers (4 stacks to a box)
Beat the egg, tomato sauce, and Worcesterchire sauce in a large bowl. Add the onions and stir thoroughly. Crush the saltines into crumbs in a plastic bag and set aside. Add the ground beef and saltine crumbs with the wet mixture. Squish it all together with your hands until thoroughly mixed. Form the mixture into a ball. (If it is too sticky, and pulls off onto your fingers, it is too wet and need more cracker crumbs.) Put the ball mixture into a bread pan (metal or glass) and flatten it into all pan corners. "Ice" the meatloaf with catsup or a bit of the remaining tomato sauce (not too thick, just a thin layer on top). Bake at 350 degrees for an hour.
The meatloaf mixture can also be broken up and made into meatballs for spaghetti.
Anyone else have a recipe to share for meatloaf or meatballs?
