Nature . It Is What It Is.

'' It’s so hard to do anything, there is so much resistance to everything. Water will eventually wash away soil no matter how hard the soil tries to resist. It’s the natural state of things. Buildings will eventually crumble and fall, it’s the natural state of things. Everyone you love will eventually die, it’s the natural state of things. The universe will eventually spread out and cool down into cold dead nothingness, it’s the natural state of things.

There are just so many things that if left by themselves will revert back to the natural state of shit and nothingness. It’s a fight to do anything. Even gravity is against you. I put a pencil on a desk and it rolls off and falls, and so I must bend down and fight gravity to pull it back from its natural state. I know that sounds trivial, but it’s the little things that get me down.

Day in and day out, not getting anywhere, it’s a struggle just to get out of bed. My body aches and I’m tired, I’d much rather revert back to being in bed, but I must fight the forces trying to keep me down to go out and perform meaningless tasks.

I used to be all “I want to save the world and help people”, now I’m not sure. It seems that the world is just spinning down the drain, and any attempts to make things better are ultimately pointless. So why fight it? Things in life are naturally shit. Starvation, suffering, and death are the natural states for millions around the world. Masses of people will naturally do stupid shit, like vote republican. Why fight it? Yes they will do stupid stuff, and yes they will suffer for it, but they are so fickle and possess such a short term memory that they will continue to repeat the same mistakes and expect different results. It’s just natural for them. Shit is the natural state of things.

As much as it seems reasonable to just go with the flow and be evil, I can’t. It’s my natural state to be a good person, and so I lament all the shit in the world, but I feel unable to do anything to stop the natural state of things. I think I would be happier if I was indifferent to other people’s suffering. It would make living in this world as we slowly circle the drain easier. ''

Re: Nature . It Is What It Is.

    Dear Melanie......

You are not alone in this experience of 'futility'.

Mother and I lament the state of the world every time we get together, and discuss what we can do, at the local level, to make at least a tiny difference.

'Chaos' does indeed seem to be the default state of the world, and no matter how much 'order' we accomplish on our tiny personal stages, the forces of physics in gravity, oxidation etc. work against us 24/7.

I just learned that my co-worker who assists with labels (my own personal mission, as useless as it may appear to others) will be leaving us, and the result is that I go into work with the knowledge that the task CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED in the time allowed with the resources available, and I am one of the best in the corporation at this folly.

If I can't get it done, no one can. Of that I am quite certain.

No one would dare to 'bitch me out', as they are grateful that I don't mind pulling graveyards and this task despised by most others.

Yet, walking in and knowing that I cannot win, that I can only do damage control at best.......eats at me.

    It makes me angry.

    I want to rage......lash out.......break things........

    It's just a job.

I feel the same way about life sometimes, when things happen and there is absolutely not a thing that I can do, or that I could have done.

If you were closer, Melanie, I would love to have tea with you, and we could laugh, cry and swear out loud in our painful lament........and I would give you a hug, and you could hug me back.

    Love to you Melanie.

May the universe return you to your natural state, which is love, and dispel the gloom that sometimes overtakes the strongest of us......
So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...

I am but a reflection of all the wonderful people who have guided me thus far, and who continue to point the way, of which you are also one, Melanie.

We are all sparks, glowing in the darkness, our responsibility to each other to aid, when possible, in maintaining and spreading the light of positive energy.

Life is a balance between the light and the dark.

    It has ever been so.

Understanding this is the easy part, as you know and teach.

Living and maintaining the balance........that's the tough bit.

Catch you later, my friend. I am off to contend with -33C in the dark, feeding horses and warming the vehicle, although 'warmth' is a relative term in these temperatures.

Yes, we are all still responsible for one another, we need and depend on each other more than any other species, in fact we are wimps when compared to natures wild animals for they sometimes die horrible painful and lonely deaths even being eaten alive, but do they cry out with self pity...No they don't.
It's a hard life for the creatures of the wild. They are our best teachers in life when it comes to futility and suffering.

Humans can be fit and healthy one day, then bam! some unfortunate accident befalls them, and they are totally helpless and in need of someone to help and take care of them, otherwise they too would die like dogs, just like some wild animals do in nature.

Carers are very important in this life, nurses, doctors, nursing home assistants, hospice workers, mental institution workers, social workers, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters, neighbours etc etc are needed all the time non stop around the clock if you've noticed.
There will always be a good job market for carers because so many of us at some point in our lives will eventually need them. Humans are very vulnerable. We need to take care not only of ourselves but of others too, big time.

    That would be so lovely.

However, We are already doing it in spirit.

Please feel free to post pictures of your horses here on my thread.

I can't imagine living in those cold temperatures either, do you have under floor heating in your houses?

Yes. It is a harsh life for the creatures as we compete with them for habitat and resources, and for our fellow human beings when these things are not shared in equal measure.

Lives change or are ended in a heartbeat, too true. Though we do our best to act with care and responsibly, others may not, and then there all the forces of nature that are beyond our ability to predict, let alone control. Our species is most unique in that we provide more care for our young, our ill or injured, and our aged, though we are not the sole species that demonstrates compassion.

Absolutely. From the cradle to the grave, we are all dependent on others to some degree or another. My small contribution at present is to assist in the security of the food supply, as so many now are reliant on imported and processed food, rather than involved in the actual growing and making of their own nourishment. It is the way of today, though that may be gradually changing in some areas.

I don't know how you find the time and energy to do all the things you do......lol especially writing as you do here at the forum as well as everything else.
I suspect it is all of my 'maternal energy' reserved, as I chose not to have children but to be somewhat of a 'female warrior' instead. I practice 'working meditation' as many of my tasks are not overly complex, and my mind will be observing details and constructing posts while my hands are doing the work. Then while I am just arisen or before retiring, I can hammer out a number of posts from memory, largely because those creatures in my care (husband, lol.....horses) are on a schedule, and I work around that with not too many 'surprises'.

'Mothers' (and I know you to be one from your posts) on the other hand, amaze the daylights out of me, as they have far greater demands on their time.

Look at yourself in the mirror this day, Melanie, and take a bow.

    You have accomplished much.

Speaking of Mothers, I'd best give mine a call before too long. She might need something brought in with the cold weather hanging in so long.

Thank you Lorrina, and yes, contrary to your 'independent female warrior' lifestyle, i chose to go down the 'earth mother' path ...lol

I raised 3 sons and 1 daughter single handed and they've all turned out very well and good. Thank goodness.
There was never a man in my life, i had to do it alone, i wanted to do it alone, and i'm glad i did,
i've seen too many screwed up kids, i didn't want mine to join that clan.

Btw, i would have appreciated the fathers help in the raising of his own offspring, but ........... he left to shack up with a younger woman.

Energy of everything always disperses, yet, without this, there could not then be the subsequent formation of all that is wonderful and living.

Re: Nature . It Is What It Is.

So anyway, about the suffering and futility of life.

We might as well make this dream the best dream we've ever had because.....there is no way out.

    Check this dialog.....

Question: I'm lost beyond belief and wish I was dead. In one way I think I am so close to seeing this for what it is (if you can be close) yet at the same time feel like I am a million miles away. These thoughts of the darkest perversion are what truly crucify me- I just can't see how there could be any way out of this.

Answer:The bad news here is that there is no way out of it.
The good news is that there is no one into this that has to get out.
It may sound cryptic, but it simply means that there is no separate ‘I.’
All there is is One-Life expressing AS all possible options.
One of ITS expressions is the sense of being an ‘I’ with a life.
There is no ‘I’ to be the owner of a life.
This sense of being an ‘I’ is LIFE ItSelf appearing AS such and idea.

The beauty, the sense of awe, the wonder as well as the pain the agony and the dark thoughts,
are experiences appearing in and on the Awareness You Are.
This Primal Unconditioned Awareness expresses AS everything.
It expresses as the thought ‘I AM.’ IT is the Identity–That-Is -the ‘I AM’ of everything- and it is what you truly are.
It is the One and Only Doer and Knower.
There is no little you that can do anything, all actions, thoughts, feelings are from and by this One Energy.
Without it, the body would be dead meat.

When this is looked into, it will become clear that there is no thinker apart from thought; that this thinker is itself nothing but a self arising thought.
The same is true for feelings and actions.
See trough this dance and recognize that there is no seer, just seeing.
The Center cannot be approached, IT is the clear emptiness YOU ARE.
All appearances are the content of this Center or Eternal Context.
The rest, such as ideas, thoughts, feelings, bodies, stars, monsters, trees and so on, is fleeting content.
Know that You already and always are the Unknowable Knowing Context and be at ease.

Isn't that the truth of it all Lorrina?

Some say i'm preaching nonduality, but heck, its the truth that needs to be heard,
and you know what they say, the truth does not want to be heard.
