Who should file a two-party patent application?

If a first person furnishes all of the ideas to make an invention and a second person employs the first person or furnishes the money for building and testing the invention, should the patent application be filed by the first and second persons jointly?

    Hi Brian,
What kind of question are you putting out? Legal, moral, or friendly? Or are you fishing for suckers?

A patent normally would be filed in the name of the inventor if wished to be held valid. But the money people can buy into ownership rights.

The employer owns the 'invention' unless the employee can prove that it is not related to the employers business in any way and that he invented it in his own time. And that no 'method or procedure' was gained from the employer.
