String 'theorists': come 'n getcher redd hotts - make history - here.

Those who buy into string theory would invest in Brooklyn Bridge and Eiffel Tower sales. String Theory is not theory, it's a spoolful of insults to scientific method. As aggressive as it is perfidious. I request that all pro String 'theorists' answer up here on this thread. (Come and get your redd hotts.)
(George Berkeley, 1710) ... lay the beginning in a distinct explication of what is meant by thing, reality, existence: for in vain shall we dispute concerning the real existence of things, or pretend to any knowledge thereof, so long as we have not fixed the meaning of those words.

    Dear RP,

I have to confess that I believe in string. My foundations in physics goes back to my childhood and the toys I played with. Yes, toys. And one of my favorites, the yo-yo, had a huge impact on how I view string theory today. Without the string the yo-yo would not return to my finger. That knowledge has had a profound impact on my life. I have spend much time and energy trying to get the yo-yo to return to my finger in numerous lab experiments and find the string an important part of the yo-yo, and the yo-yo's universe.
Without the string the yo-yo does not work.
I will venture to say this: the string made me and the yo-yo one.
I have not taken string theory much beyond the yo-yo but think I must let go and move on!

Have a fun an equal day,

    MJA

I like physical strings, but String Theory promotes only mathematical strings that do not exist in a real and physical world.

Those superstrings are only intellectual products in Wonderlands built by over-flexibility of modern mathematics.

duhhh....dont you know the strings that the theory is referreing to are actually real strings they aren't just mathematical structures..they hare unidimensional structures at the Planck scale....

Yes, string theory likes people to take their strings as real, not just mathematical.

However, I accept that a real and physical world can be more than 3-dimensional but at most 4-dimensional. Once take time as an dimension also, then, a 5-dimensional world can be theorized, just like the Kaluza-Klein Theory. That is still physics-minded.

However, the ambition which targets at GUT makes the 5-D theory go futher away from physics to become a mathematical wonderland (11-D, or any high-D as what they like).

Anyway, for a person who believes that high multi-dimensional world is still physical, that person really has his/her own reason to believe that its sub-set, an one-dimensional superstring, is real and physical but not mathematical.

    Best Regards. Bottomlander
