What statement in particular do you object to, Andrew?

Common sense is the profound instinctual wisdom, of the collective common thoughts, of the natural thinking human beings of earth...

regards,

Sorry about the mess with this message. Theory of Everything will be INSTRUMENT to solve our society's problems, it should also explain the evolution. If TOE will not explain emergent behaviors of complex systems, then what will it DO explain? I'm seeing society as complex system with emergent characteristics and as a source of laws which will lead us to the TOE through comparison of laws discovered by other research fields which in my understanding is the study object of Complexity. Maybe it could even explain the appetite. I've got a feeling we still don't suspect the power TOE might have if it's discovered.

The word common sense implies a connected understanding of what is presented to us as
phenomena, this is how I would see it,and this to me makes a lot of sense, common as well?

Emergent bahaviours cannot be reduced. Thats why its called emergence. It is only subject to survival and propagation of information, like a house of cards. Whatever survives and thrives will write the laws

It's like this:
First comes random behaviour
Then comes competition for the propagation of information
Then the winner writes the laws

If a meteor wipes us out and only the coachroach survives, then the human ape was nothing more than a fluke of evolution and emergence will continue to describe the world of the coachroach

The TOE will and cannot explain anything more than the unification of all fundamental forces. Everything else is emergent by definition and did not exist before, neither in thought, nor mathematical model.

Randomness first, laws second

In essence there is only one law in the universe:
Evolution
Whatever survives, thrives and adaptes the best and fastest is the TOE and will proclaim itself as the pinnacle of evolution, the peak of all emergence

Mr.Nobody, Where does "evolution" stand in light of the fact that all information at the physical-material level of our universe is limited to the frequencies of matter.

Our present is the direct result of our past stored memoriess manifesting as our present and our future is nothing but our desires from our present determining and reforming what our past and present become but all from the same information available at and limited to the frequencies of matter.

This is the inexorable "Law of Karma" grinding everyone alike on the "Wheel of Life"

Where is "Evolution" in these circumstances where we are simply going round and round in an animated picture show of information limited to the requencies of matter. The only way off this wheel is to separate our consciousness from it and as a result experience "awareness" of consciousness at higher frequencies of existence

Re: Common Sense - 02-26-2007, 06:29 PM

All information being limited to the frequency of matter proves the point I have made. Eons of interaction within matter waves happen to create the you in accordance with the anthropic principle. What your eyes interpret as patterns corresponds with the evolutionary path matter took to organize. Why is matter driven to organize, you might ask? That is the big mystery? Perhaps it is in response to cosmic expansion that matter seeks to recombine, or perhaps it is random vibrations of the space-time fabric that we interpret as matter conglomerations and the world around us.

Our present is a direct result of past competitions to pass on information, the future is undetermined. Our consciousness is nothing more than emergent behavior of extreme complexity, that was allowed to develop within gravity. Consciousness is not something separate and in addition to matter.
