Science as a Team Work - 09-12-2007, 11:59 AM

A website EvoWiki within wikipedia caught my attention today.
It is a team work with collaborative writings by good-hearted persons to counter balance the wide-spread pseudoscience and weird thoughts.

EvoWiki contains 2,977 pages up to now.
Its Content is available under Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike. So, it is really helpful for toequesters who wish to build their own theories better.

http://wiki.cotch.net/index.php/Science starts like this:

Doing science means trying to find things out while trying to make as few mistakes as possible.
This means that before you try to find something out, you have to find out how to avoid mistakes. The collection of ways to avoid general mistakes is called the scientific method. This includes:
  • Studying the special mistakes that can occur when you try to find out about a special topic.
  • Amassing knowledge relevant to the topic.
  • Scanning the literature to find out what other scientists did before you on the same topic.
  • When thinking up a hypothesis, making it testable.
  • When testing a hypothesis, make clear beforehand what exactly you want to test.
............

Glad to read and share also its List of Fallacy. http://wiki.cotch.net/index.php/List_of_fallacy_pages
Before we spent too much time on some weird things, it seems helpful if you check and re-think with that list to minimize some misinterpretations.

Best Regards. Bottomlander

Fallacies do not exist and the only thing that exists is the truth. Everything is the truth, by nature. That which is not true is nothing.

All fallacies are fallacies. Impossibility is impossibility. No law may exist which attempts to tell you what you cannot do. There are no things one can't do, for everything else, there's masterforce.

EXAMPLE:

the website you posted said that fallacies exist. For example, they say there is a fallacie that exists which says that something may not be true because it is the best of consequences.

THat is the opposite of what is true. For the truth is everything, and everything is the greatest absolute possibility, and the best of consequences. The greatest possibility must be true. Therefore a fallacy is a fallacy.

Furthermore it stands to reason that fallacy in general is a fallacy. The truth is both true and false, but it stands to reason that that which is false is not true and that which is true is not false. Therefore all impossibility is impossible and all possibility is possible. Therefore the absolute greatest possibility must be true and it must be everything, and it must have the greatest and most worthy value. The absolute least possibility must be false and it must be nothing, and it must have the value of nothing.

It is my highest entreatment that my friends and girlfriends do not trouble or worry themselves with the idea that it is productive thinking up fallacies, for nothing will become of a fallacy. Concern yourself with the truth, for the only fallacy is that fallacies exist at all. There is no fallacy except for fallacy, for there is nothing except for everything.

"Concern yourself with the truth"

This is why we had all our arguments, POK. Even mainstream science is based on the realization that the "truth" is based on the continual self-corrective process as a result of discovering logical fallacies of the past.

There is no such thing as a logical fallacy. Everything is the greatest absolute possibility. There is no such thing as an argument. Everything is all that which is in agreement. Nothing is all that which is not in agreement. There is no such thing as mainstream. Either everything is mainstream or nothing is.

appreciate the greatest absolute possibility

That's a non-sequitur stance, POk, and is a type of proof that there are logical fallacies.

Yet, I was referring more to fallacies, like redshift is observed therefore the universe started from a dense point.

Nothing doesn't exist, so can neither be in agreement nor disagreement.

Savvy?

Scientific methods and List of Fallacy are definitely helpful to a thinker during the long and winding path in developing a new theory.

As what Sherlock Holmes (the famous novel detective) put it:
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth ..."

Scientific methods and List of Fallacy are good provisions for thinkers to re-think, eliminate the illusion and be inspired during the process.

Must be the truth, or is probably the truth?

If there is a progression from the impossible to the possible to the improbable to the probable to the uncertain to the certain...all based on variable circumstances that offer no more than circumstantial evidence to base our facts on.

For the novel effect by Holmes 100 years ago, it was "Must be the truth". For mindful and cautious enough thinkers like most toequesters, it is really "probably the truth".

Even after a TOE has been highly praised, it will provide only "the most probable truth" as the best available systematical truth.

Good message, good thoughts, NOBODY!
The 3 highlighted parts all are excellent wisdoms!
And every insightful series are worthy as a success - from impossible to possible to improbable to probable to uncertain to certain is really a series what thinkers are looking for!

Re: Science as a Team Work - 09-29-2007, 08:36 PM

My friend Simon discovered Protheory and according to this theory any premise can have three potential truth values:

1) It is True = TRUE
2) It is not True = FALSE
3) It is neither True and it is neither False = NEUTRAL

See how it is applied to the biggest current issue - GOD. Especially in regard to current scientific debate over Darwinisn Theory v's Intelligent Design.

1) God exists
2) God does not exist
3) We cannot prove God exists nor can we prove God does not exist therefore the answer is indeterminable = NEUTRAL

The truth therefore of God Existance is inderminable at this stage.

Prothery can therefore be an improvement on current Scientific Method.
