    Yeltsin;
    I would strongly suggest that you recognize that the absolute foundation of physics is strictly with the measured terms that provide us with the numbers (empirical data). Relativity is a methodology to translate subjective observations into objective data; these interpretations of the terms are highly questionable. Relativity only does away with the need to define the properties of the Aether since the terms account for its properties; thus Einstein stated “the Aether is not needed to perform the math”; he did not say it did not exist. Relativity actually requires it to exist.

    BTW: Electromagnetic radiation is a WAVE. Particles are not waves, they have “wave functions”. (they vibrate)

    I understood very little of that. Could you use, like, really simple language for me?

    Re: THE 5th ELEMENT

    In Hinduism we have the five elements Earth, Water, Fire, Air and sky. I dont think you can categorise sky as aether.

    My question: IS ETHER OUR 5th STATE OF MATTER?

    Why not you already have air listed. I would think it means space or ether, but I'm not hindu.

    Leaving different religions aside, air would be air and not space. Aether would be something that fills a void but is not a substance.

    I thought sky = space = ether. Why isn't ether a substance? I believe it is made up of 1 and 2 dimensional entities.

    Could be Prof. But if aether is made up of particles, then we would see (or sense) small ripples whenever a coment whizzed past us. I do not think we have been able to detect any ripples as yet.

    Thats because I believe the ether is made up of 1 and 2 dimensional entities, strings and quarks, which are very difficult to detect. I believe the neutrino is a quark. Real, has effect, but very difficult to detect, and the trillions which pass through me every second is part of our ether.

    This is why I don't believe the ether is made up of 3D particles because that would be detected, as you mentioned.

    Re: THE 5th ELEMENT

    That's a challenge that our particle physicists have to overcome. However if aether is made out of quarks and strings, then why would they not start building 3D particles? Can 2D and 1D particles stay independently without recombination?

    All the quarks and protons and neutrons and electrons were created within a fraction of a second after the big bang when energy was sufficient to accomplish that. I believe the excess strings and quarks that does not make up our 4% visible universe is the ether. That is my thought Dipayankar
