Can't every-thing and one thing(all) be one and the same? One and all things is everything, is it not? We are looking for a One and All Thing. A great unifier that is capable of taking all that we have now and unifying it unto itself. It's sole purpose would be to unify our fragments into one. It would be complete at that point.

Yes you are right, and you will find this very thing has been achieved in absolute detail within The Second Theory of Everything

It is a complete unification of everything using only one mechanism and one equation.

The trouble with using what we think we know about past labels to describe what we see, is that it limits the intake of new knowledge to the boundaries of what we want to use. Looking at past events of reality (things that really happened) and looking past the theories that the first people who saw them came up with, gives us the opportunity to see things from a wider perspective. (no boundaries)
