    ALTERED STATES for computers

ive read babout tests for computers as to their level of conciousness.roger penrose suggested that this will be reached not when a computer can beat a man a chess, but when a man will not be able to tell if he is playing against a computer.
how would it be possible to construct a computer that is capable of altered states of consiousness, such as hallucinations, scizofrenia, multiple personality traits.what would be considered dimentia in an artificial mind

Have you ever raised a loaded question! I am going to say this as politely as I can. I think it is going to take a man to answer something like that.

    Re: ALTERED STATES for computers

    ok.i found something.
A quantum computer at a US University has solved a computational problem without running a program. Scientists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gleaned the answer to an algorithm by combining quantum computation and quantum interrogation (a technique that makes use of wave-particle duality to search a region of space without actually entering that region) in an optical-based quantum computer through a process called "counterfactual computation".
"It seems absolutely bizarre that counterfactual computation – using information that is counter to what must have actually happened – could find an answer without running the entire quantum computer," said Paul Kwiat, a John Bardeen Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at Illinois. "But the nature of quantum interrogation makes this

The problem here is that artificial intelligence has not been yet imitate human consciousness so is is prehaps premature to be working on an altered state of consciousness.

Na! That's just Chi energy eminating from you and absorbed by computer's energy and then expunged...be nicer to your laptop and it will be nice to you.
Imagine even thinking a computer is schizo - when it is your fault all the time...say sorry to poor innocent laptop.

Talking Re: ALTERED STATES for computers

Some more food for thought. On several occasions, my cursor has taken it upon itself to go strolling around the screen.

There was no detectable vibration from outside, such as heavy machinery etc.

I do recall being quite emotionally energized on the occasions of this occurence and wondered if the electromagnetic being known as labelwench was somehow interfering with the energy of her laptop.

My laptop is generally of the benign and user friendly sort.

It was not until fairly recently that I could wear anything other than a stem-wound watch. Battery operated ones, even quite costly models, would not keep accurate time for me.
