What happened to yesterday?Your personal perception of now awareness has motioned along the highway of unfolding experiences, and you are further along the road? The "before" is still there, but you are not!You have journeyed a little further along the highway of life. You can indeed re-member it but you cannot retrace your footsteps to there again!unless of course you are a magician?

    kind regards michael.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

Today I moved to the right.

    What happened to left?

I personally find the holographic paradigm explains this easiest.

When you look at a 2-D hologram from various angles, you see different views of what appear to be a 3-D object.

When you look at a 4-D spacetime from various angles, you see different views of what appear to be a 3-D universe.

The sum of the views of the 3-D object are contained in the 2-D hologram, but you're limited to either seeing a slice of the object within, or looking at the hologram as a single object from afar.

It is hard to look at the universe from afar, why?

Imagine that you're contained within the data of the hologram looking at different slices, how could you imagine that the sum of all this data you were perceiving in slices, existed as a single body of data?

Some see this idea and think "so the 4-D universe is an illusion of a 3-D hologram", which is completely understandable to assume.

Here's the twist: you aren't describing an image of a 3-D object, you're describing a 3-D object itself, the sum of data of all of those 3-D slices we perceive individually is a 4-D shape.

Assuming that time is an illusion assumes that our perception is inherently correct and absolute, and we somehow see beyond the hologram to a reality.

It seems more reasonable to think that a portion of a body can only perceive it from within, and that we are only seeing slices of the reality.

The 4-D sum of all the nows in the universe is the sum of the data within the hologram.
The 3-D perception of a now is a limited viewing angle of the entire hologram.

A 2-D hologram looks 3-D to an outside observer.

No one considers the implications for an observer inside that flat hologram.

They would have at best one or two freedoms of viewing angle, and would not be able to perceive the 3-D image we see from the outside with our 3 freedoms of viewing angle.

If there is a 4-D, then all our yesterdays and tomorrows are there.

If there is a 5-D, all that is possible is there.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

Indeed, our impression of yesterday and today is from the focus of being a part of the hologram, looking from the one angle.

I don't think it really fits to call anything above a fifth dimension, rather a zeroth dimension, to use the term from Asimov's laws of robotics, an undecided state of potential.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

The relationship of yesterday to today, and subsequently to tomorrow is indeed an interesting question.

    Scientifically, I offer no answers.

Subjectively, I observe that people (and horses) retain a link to previous experience that greatly influences their present and future perceptions and reactions.

A negative perception of yesterday is very hard to get past. A positive impression of yesterday is an easy foundation to build upon.

Wherever it went, yesterday remains very much with us.

It exists as concept and memory. There is, in reality, no such thing ever experienced. The only 'time' that can be lived is the timeless Now! and Now! and Now! All Now!s are synchronous, and linearity (time) is just one Perspective.
There is no 'yesterday', 'time signatures', such as a moment being 12:30:30:30:30... am, GMT, earth, are locations of moments, like street addresses for different and unique Now!s (universes).
The shifting concepts of 'yesterday' is a function of memory, Perspective, nothing else. 'Memory' is not necessarily related to anything 'actual'.

( Or, maybe, yesterday is being eaten by the Langoliers?)

You and I do not share a Now.

There is no such thing as universal simultaneity.

    According to you.
Mere gainsaying, such as what you offer, deserves no further response.
