    Re: What happened to yesterday?

Time is the duration of your life. Yesterday holds all the passages and if some of them were impressionistic they get dumped in long-term memory, if it was just you passing time they could get dumped into short-term memory. Yesterday happened because without it there could be no passage to today...time is the duration of your life....

We are not in the same Now, events you claim are simultaneous are not necessarily simultaneous from my perspective.

I offered more than a simple retort further up the page, but seriously, if you think there is a universal now connecting all events, and that time is a process, rather than an experienced degree of freedom... then you are I are probably not in the same Universe.

How did you get your posts to show up? Do you have an Einstein-Rosen bridge established? Can I examine it? I'd love to perform some experiments on it.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

“There’s no present like the time,” said the magic book. Revise your calendars! Invest in today, for the future contains a severe interest penalty if the certainty of the moment is held mortgage for the Deed of Futurity. The calendar contains only today. The days are no longer numbered! Strike off dead yesterday and unborn tomorrow. Now is the time of your present comprehension. Now is when you have reality’s attention. All else is not here. The past exists only in your memory, the future only in your imagination. All creation takes place in the present.”

The book then went silent and they knew it had finished. “What then is tomorrow?” she asked her partner.

“Look to the eastern horizon; see, it’s but a dim glow” he said; “tomorrow is just a faint gleam from afar. But, what is yesterday?”

She looked at the smoke and haze in the west and said, “See, yesterday is but a cold ash.”

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

I wasn't cold ash when I passed through yesterday, what happened to me since then?

Right now will be yesterday soon, why would your worldline simply stop existing, knitting itself into some new shape with no influence from the past or future?

Yesterday became the backdoor of today while tomorrow becomes the front door of today or respectively Monday and Sunday as the beginning and the end of a week. Tuesday and Saturday became the sidedoors of today while Wednesday and Friday became the ceiling or the cellar door door of today however Thursday is the mind door of today.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

    A moment contains eternal reward—
Both past and future are rolled thereinward.
    Time never passes—it stays as it is;
Still, it is ceaselessly moving onward.

Memory’s ideas recall the last heard tone,
Sensation savors what is presently known,
    Imagination anticipates coming sounds
The delight is such that none could produce alone.

As of now I hold reality’s attention—
This is the time of my present comprehension.
What is past exists only in my memory,
The future only in my imagination.

    Naive realism is refuted.

YouPerspective is no more than a tiny feature of existence, Now! Science's Perspective varies from your's considerably.

I offered more than a simple retort further up the page, but seriously, if you think there is a universal now connecting all events,
All 'events'/manifestations are the universal Now! There is nothing needed to connect the apparent features of that which is a complete whole.

and that time is a process,
It is not a 'process' as 'process implies 'motion', and except as a particular appearance to/as a partucular Perspective, 'motion' is not possible.

rather than an experienced degree of freedom...
'Freedom' is an egoic fantasy. There is no 'doing', there is no 'choice' to do anything, we are features of the Now! universe. Not gods. (Sorry, ego...)

then you are I are probably not in the same Universe.
We are looking at the same elephant. We are different Perspectives of that elephant. Our 'realities' are very different, but the description of the complete unverse at any moment is the sum-total of all Perspectives. The elephant is better understood by incorporating all Perspectives rather than ignorantly arguing any single (necessarily limited) one.

"The Laws of Nature are not rules controlling the metamorphosis of what is, into what will be. They are discriptions of patterns that exist, all at once, in the whole Tapestry... The four-dimensional space-time manifold displays all eternity at once." - 'Genius; the Life and Science of Richard Feynman'

Haven't we gone around with this before?
I'm not going around with you again, either in the universal Here, or in the universal Now!
I can't even see how anyone cannot get this. When are you, Now! Where are you, Here!
All the evidence is that there is only Now! and Here!
This is the only evidence on the table; all else is 'memory' and 'thoughts' and 'fantasy/belief'.
It is not possible to be anywhen but Now! Ever! There are many unique Nows! But all Now!
    That's All Fffffolks!!!
    The End.

    Re: What happened to yesterday?

You quote Feynman, who specifically explains the impossibility of a universal definition of simultaneity, and thus denies an absolute Now... and then claim Now is all there is?

    Seriously?

You say incorporating all perspectives is better than ignorantly arguing any single one, and then deny that any time but the Now exists?

Science agrees with me, Now is an artifact of observation, and there is no defineable universal simultaneity.
