Life is unpredictable as soon as you step out of your front door. The Universe is the same in a constant stae of flux.

As we obviously cannot see black holes, the only things we can do to assertain their existence are apply theoretical knowledge, and observe the things that we suspect they cause. Detection of black holes is most likely to occur when we find an invisible object that has a mass which could only possibly demonstrate one. Even then we are working on the assumption that white dwarfs and neutron stars are unable to survive at such a mass. One way of calculating the mass of an object we cannot see (thus cannot gauge luminoscity or magnitude), is to follow the orbit around it of a companion star. If this star is found to be part of a binary system,with an invisible partner, then the mass of the companion can be calculate via spectral and visual analysis. If this mass is found to be in excess of 3 solar masses, then a black hole is presumed to have been found.Another way is by examing the matter that they pull towards themselves. This matter forms an accretion disk,which due to the forces acting upon it becomes hot enough to emit X-rays. When they realize they made a mistake. Actually, from a photon's point of view, it has never moved anywhere. It is the universe that passes by. This is indicated by the space-time interval equals zero in special relativity.

Antonio,
I thought that black holes could be inferred from the behaviour of light and other particles near and in it. The fact that the photon doesn't move but the universe does is interesting. I have been thinking about time and how motion may be necessary for it and wondering if motion is an illusion. Motion is only evident by our frame of reference. What if the photon example can be extrapolated?

harmonygirl what if there are no black holes just another link to another universe like a human body cell transmitting messages to another cell. It would explan the universal chaos. huh ???. maybey even wormholes are just DNA messages being sent around this virtual body ??.

Yes maybe there areno black holes.
but then what would provide a mode of transportation for any signal or message
to get through?any ideas?

perhaps messages are sent in a form we cant see. just as a drug travels through the system maybey it cannot be detected.
Be open that the universe may not work quite like we think it should ??
