The cricket has a way around the absolute END, even though the end of this universe will still happen due to dark energy expansion. When he wakes up from hibernation he will say more of the proof.

A brain can become illogical, for it is geared to insure that one survives and it will thus go to great lengths of hoping and finding a way that we can continue on after death. I, too, would like that to be.

I have a longer length idea on this explanation of thinking that I will post somewhere soon, perhaps in the Resting light thread.

    Hi Austin;

My vote is oblivion or reincarnation, the problem is of course we'll never know.

    Best,

    Pat

    Prof,

Do you have any faint memories of a past life such as the Pope or something like that, maybe a Cardinal. (Wow, you must have really goofed up in that lifetime!)

I see other reasons for spiritual feelings and beliefs arising thru natural selection. I think superstition (in the terms of selection) was present long before it became necessary to spiritually understand death or self-extinction.

A day to day survival leaves no time for long-forward projected events. I think 'God' was an immediate day to day presence to be placated/worshipped. In a semi-related issue it is not hard to imagine that such a society would have a nil suicide rate.

I think it would have been a more advanced stable (as opposed to nomadic semi/nomadic) society that first started to envision that perhaps we not only had a God, but perhaps we had some future appointment with him. Some appointment with Destiny or in Samarra. In such a society, suicide would not be beyond imagining.

But in any case I'm way of the thread !!

Re: A Little Tiny Point - Stephen Hawking's Universe

    HI to all,

Some people seem to have difficulties in accepting the existence of an infinite, eternal, all powerful, all intelligent and all personal or spiritual God, creator of all finite reality including our beautiful universe. There exist basic logical principles that helps me to accept God. One principle is that: from nothing can come nothing; or in another personal way: "I can not give what I do not have." However, I know and I accept that I exist and that the universe exists, and that I and the universe are finite. The only logical conclusion is that there must exist an infinite, intelligent eternal being that has created me and our beautiful universe out of nothing and out of love.

I think each intelligent and responsible person has to make up his or her own decision to accept or reject God; no one can force someone to accept it. Be it as it may, let us discuss the physical beginning of the universe. As I already said before, I believe that at the beginning there existed a finite quantity of energy or quanta particles and they were govern by the basic evolutionary principles according to which the universe is continually evolving. I also believe that a quantum particle is the smallest black hole, and also that the universe as a whole, is a black hole.

The question to ask is how than is the radiant light or quanta particles, formed into mass particles? I think Stephan Hawkins gives us an answer when he talked about quantum fluctuation occurring at the event horizon of a black hole. I think quantum fluctuation can occur anywhere in the universe and its rate of quantum fluctuation is depending on the temperature of its environment. If this theory is true, than mass formation from pure energy, can occur anywhere in the universe and it is continuous; and in this way, it is similar to the Steady State Theory of the universe.

    Yours Cosvis.

    cosvis,

What one cannot give separately is space or time. If you are in one place then no one else can be in the place. Also what you cannot give is your personal subjective relative consciousness of time. But as part of the universe each of us is made of quanta of spacetime as squares of energy.
Time independence: [∂E(g)]²=[∂F(a)×∂r(a)]·[∂F(b)×∂r(b)] and Mass independence: a(tr(t)=c²

Science does not aim to answer the question of whether or not God exists. The difference between different scientific theories, and different religions is that, given enough observational data, we can rule out a scientific theory. Thus, there can be a scientific theory that is best, and best fits the observational data. Religion is entirely based on beliefs, and can differ from person to person. The 'correct' scientific theory does not depend upon who is making the observations of the universe. Thus, it is entirely irrelevant trying to bring in religion when discussing science.

Re: A Little Tiny Point - Stephen Hawking's Universe

Again I'll ask Neutralino " What if God did do it"

What if there is a God who did it. Isn't God the best explanation for the evidence of something from nothing? How do you explain the dynamics of life and of our consciousness.

My only contention is that you can't eliminate God as a possibility, when very likely that is the answer.

    Best,

    Pat

P.S. I'm not talking about specific religious beliefs only the CONCEPT of a CREATOR for our CREATED universe.
