Are you asking for a theory based on logic, or irrational belief. In which case I have already told you, Superman did it. Duh
Prof ... People who quote this always mis-understand it. People who understand it have no reason to quote it, its of no moment.
Try a little more internet research, my prayers are with you.

Hi Greg;
The quote came from RP's first post to this thread and therefore I thought it was the topic of discussion. And I believe a good topic at that.
I know RP is a steady stater himself, which is of course OK, however the best evidence points to a created universe.
I have no idea what Dr. Hawkings meant other than what he states.
Best,
Pat
P.S. Thanks for the prayers. I accept all prayers from theists, atheists, agnostics, etc.
I view them as good thoughts.

Hi Greg;
I need to be stirred and shaken at times. I'm sorry but I don't remember your theory explaining the " Big Bang " and ultimate expansion. Are you a believer in a steady state model of the universe? I know you strongly believe in evolution.
Best,
Pat
P.S. It's not irrational logic, even Aristotle had to introduce a " Prime Mover " to kick start this universe. ( Remember he started the study of logic ) Aristotlean Logic
Perhaps it would be more palatable if I were to use the term some creative or expansive force was at work at the beginning of the universe. Maybe the word God brings into play to many images and definitions.
However, that force should be explored and not swept under the rug as the Pope suggested, as not being proper study. ( sounds like some of our members )
Best to all,
Pat
