Mindfulness, the idea of being aware of ourselves, others, and our surroundings in general.
When we are aware,we notice certain things, see patterns in everyday events,in nature,
notice the way insects such as bees build a hive,to mathematical precision, the hexagon
a way to achieve the maxim storage space with the minimum of area covered.

When I witness such wonderful things, intelligence jumps up to say hey, there is mindfulness at work here, consciousness is abuzz within and without the hive. All around
we are within an ocean of consciousness, which washes up against our conscious minds
and if we are paying attention, will show us the connections and linking threads that hold
all physical phenomena together,we have but to become awake and alert to the pointers
that indicate the unity and indivisibility of all matter and form, and how it all can be traced
    to eminating from consciousness itself.

I have just read through a paper called "Is there consciousness within science"it is an extract from an interview with Ravi Gomatam by Thomas Beaundy, easily found on Google.
The opening statement says "The ongoing interface between western science and Eastern
mysticism is prehaps the strongest statement in modern times as to the relevance of India's ancient spiritual wisdom. That the Upanishads are influencing the reigning paradigm
of modern science is good reason to look more deeply within their pages foe insight in
    todays world.
A conference sponsered by the Bhaktivedanta Institute in San Francisco centered on the study of consciousness within science. The Institutes International secretary,Ravi Gomatam, shared with us what he calls the third wave of the ongoing interface between
    science and mysticism"unquote.

This little snippet I really enjoyed,"As science went further and further into the external
world, they ended up inside the atom where to their surprise they saw consciousness
    staring them in the face"?

Loved your ending snippet and the entire post Michael.

I started my theory with a quote From the Upanishad, that within the void is LIFE and JOY, and ended it with a picture of my new grandson. ( LIFE and JOY )

I did this on purpose to try to give meaning to our quest. Some critized that its too mystical. Mystical yes; too much I don't think so.

I accessed the article and it looks good. It will take me some time to digest it however, and I need ink for my printer.

But here is a snippet from the article:

"I went through my entire scientific career searching for life, but now I see that life has somehow slipped through my fingers and all I have is electrons, protons, and particles, which have no life at all. So in my old age I am forced to retrace my steps."
    Szent-Giorgi ( Nobel laureate biology )

    Best to all,

    Pat

PS Glad you insired RP for the post on Tao, Yin/Yang, and I Ching.
    Its time West meets East.

A relentless pressure is building for science to first consider, then accept the fact of the
presence of consciousness within matter, energy, and force, although consciousness is transcendent of matter while also within it,science will be forced to conclude that without
its inclusion within the equation of the universal reality,it will fail to answer vital questions.

Leibnitz was a philosopher, and as such he had certain primary principles, which biassed him in favour of certain conclusions, and his discovery that external things were substances endowed with force was at once used for the purpose of applying these principles.

One of these principles was the law of continuity, the conviction that all the world was connected, that there were no gaps and chasms which could not be bridged over.

The contrast of extended thinking substances was unbearable to him.The defination of the
extended substances had already become untenable;it was natural that a similar inquiry
was made into the definition of mind, the thinking substance.......!

Consciousness holds the key to the T.O.E.Think about IT?

I would like to present a quote from Amit Goswami, theoretical nuclear physicist at the
university of Oregon USA.Author of the book The self aware universe.
(Quantum measurement paradox)Quote,"It is a paradox because who are we to do this conversion?Because after all,in the materialist paradigm we don't have any causal efficacy.

We are nothing but the brain, which is made up of atoms and elementary particles. So how can a brain which is made up of atoms and elementary particles convert a possibility wave into actuality?

Consciousness does, because consciousness does not obey quantum physics.
consciousness is not made of material, consciousness is transcendant.Do you see the
paradigm-changing here-how consciousness can be said to create the material world?

The material world of quantum physics is just possibility,it is consciousness, through the
conversion of possibility into actuality, that creates what what we see manifest. In other
    words,consciousness creates the manifest world"Unquote.

    Interesting stuff here I feel.

    regards michael.

Good post Michael and really applicable to the current correspondence in the theory of nothing thread. May I ask you to repost ( import )your post to that site.

I not only tend to agree with that statement but have also always felt that Schrodinger killed the cat.

Thanks Michael for a most interesting post.

    Dear Aireal:
Alignment with your conclusion is paralled here, but is it constitutional?
