    Re: T.o.N. (Theory of Nothing)

Btw, the "Theory of Nothing" link leads to a free pdf, Lloyd.

There have been a few concessions on this forum that absolute motion can be considered equivalent to no motion. Yet, looking back I wasn't sure if you agreed with that.

The following was referred to me by someone from another forum, and I would ask if you would consider t=0 to be consistent with absolute speed since all of your references to speed are in relative quantized form.

"Barbour points out that some sciences have long done away with the 'I' as a persisting identity. To take atomic theory seriously is to deny that the cat that jumps is the cat that lands, to use an illustration of Barbour's. The seething nebula of molecules of which we, cats, and all matter are made is ceaselessly rearranging at incomprehensibly fast speeds. The microcosm metamorphoses constantly, therefore one must deny there is any sense to say a cat or a person persists through time."

Psychology is a digression from the real and true philosophies of the history of thought...
What a very strange thing to say!

'Philosophy' and 'thought' are not psychological actions? You think a study of history (and its 'thoughts') is not a psychological representation of the past? - Perhaps you feel that people only think with their check-books and genitalia, then?

People look after the things they have affection for. It is thus essential that we learn to have affection for the planet that sustains us.

"The sense of threat from every quarter of what is known as the Establishment – which is to say, of modern civilization – is not altogether a put-on or an act for many of these young folk, but an actual condition of soul. The break-off is real, and what is being bombed and blown up outside are actual symbols of interior fears." - Joseph Campbell

This is the point where the mind comes in, which many folks underestimate the power of, as well as how psychology affects how one interprets reality.
    Even Nobby is closer...

Infinitely closer, but not absolutely closest to the "truth" of the wisest piffle.

    Infinitely closer,
    (Yet another) Contradiction alert!

I own no 'truth', as it cannot 'belong' only to a specific entity.

Nob, do you work here full time?

    Re: T.o.N. (Theory of Nothing)

Truth known, Einstein, not "owned." You have no conception of context, which explains why you think what you do.

"...within an Infinite Cosmos that just is."

Another "just because" argument, based on an unverifiable Infinite Cosmos (a.k.a. "god").

Keep your religion and contradictions out of my thread!

Surely, no need for such extreme outbursts of emotion, Nob, seeing as they have never been in it? Of course, while we remain emotionally attached to some 'theory', there can be little chance of gaining insight into Truth, seeing as all our emotions are based upon past understandings, and we are still searching the present for truthful answers.

    Infinite Cosmos (a.k.a. "god").
Is that what you think, what you believe, or what you hope?

Either way, it is your thought, based upon your limited understanding of the subject. This creates your contradiction, which in turn leads to your false imaginings.

And, putting words into other peoples' mouths is hardly science or philosophy, is it? More an action of a 'politico-religious' nature.

'Infinite Cosmos' = 'Space existing infinitely in 3 dimensions'. So, Nobby, why do YOU feel the need to drag 'god' into it (again!)?

    "unverifiable"
Yes, this is the very belief that will stop people trying... No one can verify Truth for us. We can only arrive at its necessary conclusion by negating our contradictory states. (The 'scientific' method, and the reason why Humans have invented 'science' at all.) Sorry, I've been assuming you already knew that. I guess that's where 'assumptions' get us! Ah well, we live and learn...hopefully.

    Any ideas?

No, nothing doesn't exist, pif, and the Infinite Cosmos isn't god. Further, I have no beliefs, but apparently you do...a belief in contradiction and Cosmos religion!

I have no need of your conceptions, which explains why you are getting angry, and are not able to come back with anything that verifies your 'theory'.
