Felix Schrodinger (03-13-2010)
I'm going to goof up a little in life so I can come back as a cat. They have it made. I'll still be able to post (Felix does).
Hi Felix….you mentioned “variations in the vacuum field.”
Here is what Haisch says…
“Zero-point refers to the fact that even though the extent of this energy is huge, it is the lowest possible energy state. All other energy operates over and above the zero-point state. Take any volume of space and take away everything else—in other words, create a vacuum—and what you are left with is the zero-point field full of zero-point energy.
We can imagine a true vacuum, devoid of everything, but in the real world, a quantum vacuum is permeated by the zero-point field with its ceaseless EM waves.
An old adage states that nature abhors a vacuum. Actually nature has nothing to abhor. The vacuum as a condition of complete emptiness, as an absolute void, does not exist. Rather the laws of quantum mechanics posit the seat of the zero-point field as a state of paradox and possibility—a seething sea of particle pairs, energy fluctuations and force perturbations popping in and out of existence. This state can support both quantum mischief and I predict veritable technological magic. It may represent an unlimited source of energy available everywhere, and perhaps even a way to modify gravity and inertia. The quantum vacuum is therefore in reality a plenum, but in keeping with tradition I will continue to use the term quantum vacuum.”
He then discusses the Casimir Force in regards to the possibility to eliminate a little bit of the zero-point field with its zero-point energy.
He then discusses EM radiation, including light exerting a kind of pressure and a phenomenon called “striction.” He talks about the field as completely random EM waves. He talks about the possibility that all the energy and matter of the universe originated out of the zero-point energy associated with the zero-point field. He says if you take our universe and run it backwards in time, you arrive at Planks density (space compressed to the maximum, the entire universe shrunk to atomic size.)
He suggests that maybe the entire universe is a kind of instability arising out of the zero-point energy and the zero-point energy a pre-existing sea of energy.
Then he discusses inertia and could universal radiation pressure cause inertia and explain the instantaneous nature of inertia—Inertia as a zero-point field Lorenz force. Then under inertial reaction he discusses the theory of quarks.
In reference to inertia he proposed a variation on ordinary electrodynamics—inertia as an EM force—links between the sub-atomic and cosmic worlds—the EM field contributing to inertia.
He states—“The quantum vacuum comprises more than just the EM zero-point energy. There are presumably other zero-point fields and energies associated with the weak and strong interactions that are also part of the modern view of the quantum vacuum.” He thinks EM, weak and strong will prove to be variations of a common grand unified interaction. He talks about the possibility to manipulate matter.
I hope this gives you some things to muse about seeing you said that you have been doing some considerations. I find it thought provoking because he proffers the idea that science needs to understand inertia and he is working on a hypothesis for the Law of Inertia..

Good post, Mikal.

Austin you have many cats and of course when they are in your care and in your home—it must seem like paradise.
However, I am sure that some of your cats disappear for a time almost as if they are gone on journeys to discover the world they are in is provocative, dangerous and exciting. Do you think this would seem like a coaxing from paradise to knowing a fuller environment and tests to fulfill their potential to be more fully a cat? Do you think that even cats discover dynamic experiments and that through random and undirected features they begin to cat-know there is more than their box and so they should occasionally get out of their box….
Just some musing..lol…seeing you have so many cats….

The cats are so curious about the world that they often get into some difficulty, but since they have nine lives they eventually get out of all the predicaments. They seem to have reached some kind of evolutionary perfection. They get to sleep a lot, too. Even Schrodinger's Cat never really died in his quantum superposition state until the tenth experiment.
Thanks for the vacuum state info, as that's what we get into a lot here for particle emissions.
Gosh I know people who could be considered to have nine lives...lol...

Those people have great luck, I guess.
I hear that it takes 978,345 improving lives to be able to join Krishna on his Planet X.

Generations of Universes
The idea that Universes beget Universes
Has many attractive features.
One scenario the Caroll Chen model proposes
Is that a future De Sitter Space
Is the birthing stage
For the creations of new Universes.
However, as pointed out,
Several papers by Trodden
Have called this possibility into question.
Nevertheless,
The compelling logic of this scenario,
Which avoids all the difficult problems
Of eternal inflation,
Is an incentive for attempting
To find workable models
That predict the basic paradigm,
That Universe beget Universes.
One very promising scenario
Is the pre Big Bang proposal
By Venzianio and Gasperini.
In this model base
On string theory formalism,
What General Relativity predicts
As the creation of a singularity,
String theory predicts
As the creation of Universe pairs,
A Universe and an anti Universe,
The BIVERSE.
One serious criticisms of this model
Has been raised by Thibault Damour
And Marc Henneaux who point out
That space time should behave chaotically
On the approach to the predicted singularity
Contradicting the observed regularity
Of the early Universe.
One possible solution to this problem
Is to include in the calculations
The high energy string modes
On the verge of becoming black holes
Which smooth out the behavior of space time.
This solution has been proposed by Gasperini
And independently by Thomas Banks and Will Fichler.
All models of Black Holes contain
White Hole solutions.
But we never see White Holes in Nature.
Perhaps the reason is
That these White Hole solutions
Are in fact Big Bangs,
The creation of new Universes.
