At the risk of offending some, may I say that my best friend is German, and she has a 'tattoo'. She gave me a copy of a little book about Auschwitz, and we never talk about those horrors that somehow she survived and that even those who were German, were not immune to.
My father was from East Germany, and in the army, and fled to Canada to become a Canadian soldier.
The Germans, as a culture, are among the most honest and industrious people on the planet.
Yet, because of the actions of a man, who actually considered himself Christian, history does not allow Germans to celebrate the best of their culture, although I do observe that the Capitalist system has readily embraced the Octoberfest, and all the money that can be made by means of it's celebration.
Not looking for a scrap, just felt the need to throw that out there.....So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...
