Space, big-bang, 4d.. We haven’t unveiled simple questions that we encounter day by day. It is in our nature to behave like free and rude creatures. We take the freedom to explain many things, which are composed of other many things that we are not aware of. Still we win at the end, even by the methods of hopeless unlimited tries. That’s how we learned to fly, thats how we have electricity, thats how we sail …
If you tackle a simple question, like how the universe begun, you will see that first there is no sure method to check that up. Lots and lots of millions of years elapsed from its beginning if there were a beginning at all, and possible existence of many wonders in space like black holes who inadvertently changed a lot in meantime and disappeared, just makes the question more and more difficult to answer. As many scientists took the liberty to explain many complicated questions under one cap, I took the liberty to consider it easy. Now let me explain what I think under ‘easy’. I refer easy as something not hard to explain if you really know the answer… To know the answer we must know nearly all. That’s why it’s modern to say that we are in search for “theory of everything”. But if we simply want to use the curiosity of a 3 year old child and use our knowledge database we’ll end up nowhere. Now let’s try. Why is earth orbiting around sun? –Because of the gravity. –Who makes the gravity? -The sun the earth.
Well Sun is a celestial object that we gave a name which by itself does not produce gravity. We have somehow found that a mass of the sun has something to do with gravity. But, we know the relation. We don’t know how does mass “produce” gravity. Referring to gravity we are almost always thinking of attraction force. We don’t know if there is or was a mass that makes gravity force that repels. Then we took another rude freedom to call it a force. Simply because it does not have a wavelength and it’s not a matter, and we have explanation only for those two. It’s something that is pushing and pulling we know. Now let’s take a good look. We know that if we put a lot of mass we will have gravity, the one that attracts, but we don’t know why we will have gravity and how it begun showing its force. I hear you say – because there is a lot of mass. The phenomena is all around us, we are experiencing it 24/7, we can experiment with it, make artificial one but cannot explain its birth or why is gravity showing up because of the mass. Science today is full of chicken and egg explanations. Same counts for the magnetism, electromagnetism and similar phenomena. We know some relations between measurable parameters – an outcome of the phenomena, we also use the phenomena, but we don’t know the phenomena itself.
Does life in the universe exists? After a lot of thinking I found myself with an answer. It exists. It seems like it always tend to existed. It will exist or form. I won’t be excited at all, if someone one day finds out life on a distant or nearby planet. We are the proof that life exists in the universe. We already ARE that miracle that happened one time in some galaxy. The question itself hides thousands of pitfalls. Someone tried to do some math, to get some figures about the probabilities for life in the universe. What’s life then? We will be happy if we find a bacterium inside a rock from another planet. I believe that we will learn to narrow our questions. We are somehow forced to think about life comparing it to our own, earth’s life. You can hear also that those creatures we will encounter one day may not be carbon based like we are, but may be silicon based. This may be true also. But it does not stop there. Combinations are unlimited. And we expect to communicate with them trough radio waves, micro, optic, sound… And, what if life is too slow for our radio waves? Too fast maybe? What I mean with this is that humans have their limits by their builds. We are limited on many aspects. We live 100 earth years which is zero time compared to the universe time. By ourselves we can observe the universe as some point in time. What if life somewhere is lot longer than we think it is and that life form cannot catch our high speed microwaves since it has no equipment or all our existence is just a moment in time to it? What we operate with is some audio spectrum, some video spectrum, some other sensors and we can read all that many times a second. Moving pictures faster than 12 frames per second is a continuous flow to us. That’s why we build some helper instruments to find out more. Even with those instruments we cannot know lets say the position of an electron in a single atom. If we know the position we don’t know other properties. All of the atomic, not tackling subatomic activity is simply too fast for us. We can probably presume that same electron orbits the nucleus zillions times during a coffee break. What happens in some fraction of time, or moment, on that electron, becomes irrelevant to us since WE have no use of it. This buries a lot, since everything is relevant. It is important to get answers, but it is more important to ask the right questions, a joke comes at mind – are we absolutely sure that everything is relative?
We have come to put another parameter into existence. Better to say dimension. 4d. Since it was very spectacular when it was “discovered”, many orators put a lot of mysticism in it. The comparison of two dimensional creature not knowing the three dimensional world, just makes us stupid saying we cannot think or know about it and there is some mystic mental block we must pass to understand it. There is no two dimensional creature, and we are all already 4d. We only need some slight change in view to understand it. As I see it, it is - object trough time. A description of a 4d object must have beginning and end in time. Depending of how long we want to capture, we get different 4d object. If we move a circle strait line and look at whole time fragment at once we will get a tube. If the circle rotates around its axis and does not move we will get another complex 4d shape that will resemble either torus or a ball depending on where the axis was. That would be 4d description of the circle during that period of time. We have explained where the circle was and where it went. On the other hand similar solid description would make 3d ball if moving by same trajectory as the circle. Final 4d description of the ball would be more like pill shape, while circle would leave us a hollow pipe 4d.
Moving a point into circular motion would leave a circle 4d description, and so on and so on. Or you can say this and stay on the line, if you take a 4d object but the time fragment is very small with tendency to zero, you will end up with your 3d object. Compare this analogy of 2d world example which saw the projection or a slice of a 3d object, and you will end up with our 3d objects being the projection of its 4d. You can read in many books that 4d objects can intersect and form complex structures but all of that means that some 3d object went or intersected another 3d object trajectory not in the same time. Scientists already referred to 4d earlier but it was not used as specific term. Examples include “electron cloud around the nuclei”, where scientist try to depict a shape, where actually a single dot orbits around a ball. Remember your chemistry classes where we learned that electrons from some atoms create clouds similar in shape of number 8. Its same dot that makes 4d ball shaped object, orbiting differently and thus making a 4d 8. What we try to find out all the time is tailored 4d objects to our needs.
Anyway we are constantly advancing and our knowledge too. Many things will be forgotten as non usable implied by our life style limits. Some of the things we cannot imagine already are so obvious, like giving birth to a baby outside hospital without presence of myriad of medical personnel? If it’s in a cab, it will be in newspaper. Well imagine that only 200 years ago every woman have had the delivery at home with help of another person or by herself. Or let’s say how will you treat a person that is definitely positive that the earth is carried on a back of three whales? Careful on this one since you may insult your ancestors. Or can you imagine that 2000 years ago when a historically significant person was born, so people started counting years, human population on earth was 200-300 million. Or we can wonder how water mixed with corn starch behaves - something our grand-grand mothers experienced all the time, never knowing it will be state of the art technology for making bullet proof vests. You can only laugh at those opinion or numbers now, but think of it that whole earth thought that way, not so many years ago in a very small time fragment of the universe time.
It’s also sensible to think that someone will laugh at our opinion since we are also a small fragment from universe time and I believe we will get more and more questions answered. We must bear in mind that we have invented the term “second” “hour” “year”. We have started measuring time and tailoring it to our needs. That measurement sometimes distracts us from real time periods we must take for examination.
What is most interesting of all to my opinion is human intelligence. It is really interesting to watch birds flocking and seeing the same motion in fish, thus making comparison how they evolved, but what is more interesting is the birth of human intelligence. It evolved gradually for sure, but what is most marvelous is its birth. Probably, as we now consider the intelligence as something normal yet extraordinary, may something else evolve in us in the future rendering us unaware at the moment. I believe that we constantly increase our capacity and shorten time to consume more correct answers making more space and time for exploration of the questions to be answered. |
