I am convinced that your model of charge as some kind of locked up twist in the fabric of space shows great promise. General relativity and electro-magnetic effects can be combined into an overall consistent picture.
One major reservation I have with your proposals is that in common with the Williamson / van der Mark and other ideas, the twist or knot in space becomes isolated from that very space. Once it is broken, tied up and re-joined into a loop, the configuration is free to float off by itself.
My variation on the idea uses the concept of spherical rotation to produce a rolling disturbance which is an inseparable part of the space-time continuum.
