As part of a general idea of space twisting and compressing to produce different effects on different scales, our part of the grander cosmos can be imagined to wind up and unwind in a complicated geometrical fashion. The pent up energy of a tightly wound universe is being transformed into an outward spinning and tumbling motion which will eventually reverse and curl up again into a tightly compressed space.
