    Austin's Super TOE

My TOE is a Super TOE that occurs 'before' and with the origin of the universe and so it blends into anyone’s regular TOE, perhaps with some slight overlap, or not, then continues on up to explain our life of being.

    Austin’s Super TOE of Possibility
    (not a joke)
    Of the Shimmering Sparkling Rainbow
Of All That Glimmers and Shines Everywhere

Long ago, some protons formed a massive star via gravity, and for quite a while it fused hydrogen into helium, living a long and healthy life, but its death would be even more spectacular. In its death throes, this massive star goes out with a bang—first collapsing, then triggering a supernova explosion bright enough to drown out the light of an entire galaxy. A shock wave of precious stellar debris hurtles outward into space at tens of millions of miles per hour, containing the heavier elements that will make up planets, form more stars, and even create life.

    0. This universe is a result of amazing ‘luck’. Whence forth came it so fortuitously?
....a. Suppose that protons had been just 0.2 percent larger; they’d have been unstable and would have decayed. No atoms would have existed, ever.
....b. Suppose gravity had been slightly more powerful; then the stars would have been smaller, being more compressed, and they would have sputtered out long before they had a chance to evolve. No life.
....c. Suppose the electron had been twice as large; no life.
....d. Suppose that, when two hydrogen atoms were fused into helium in a star, 0.006 or 0.008 of the mass was turned into energy (E=MCC) instead of 0.007. If it had been 0.006, the universe would then have been filled only with hydrogen. If it had been 0.008. there would have been a universe with no hydrogen.
....e. Suppose the early universe had not a delicate balance, but had headed into runaway expansion, too quick for galaxies to form, or had headed the other direction into implosion. No life.
....f. Suppose matter had been more evenly distributed; it would not have formed galaxies. If matter had been clumpier, it would have all condensed into black holes. No life.
....g. What if the strong force were slightly more powerful? Then all protons in the early universe would have paired off and there would have been no hydrogen to fuel long-lived stars. No life.

    — The Search —

    I’ll follow every single avenue,
Whether it’s brightly lit or a dark alley,
    Exploring one-ways, no-ways, and dead-ends
Until cornered where the truth is hiding.

    1. Some things actual could not come from an absolute nothing.
....a. ‘Nothing’ is not there, and so it is of no use to build upon.
....b. ‘Not there’, as we see, didn’t dominate all, as there is something.
....c. Therefore we know that something HAD to be. No choice.
....d. So, no more of ‘Why is there something rather than nothing?”
....e. Much ado about nothing, but its impossibility is the Why of existence. ‘Nothing’ means also means not to be, for it cannot ever be.
....f. Furthermore, ‘nothing’ everywhere could not succeed, as there would not have been a something around to maintain it or its state.
....g. Nothing only ‘exists’ as a concept, in reference to a lack of something real, such as in a donut hole.

    2. Some things actual could not have been around forever.
....a. ‘Forevers’ never complete, by definition. Infinity is ever out of reach.
....b. A thing made cannot be made without ever having been made; for what would have defined its definition of its location, properties and its amount in the first place, when there was no first place.
....c. They would have worn out by now. Unbreakable means unmakable.

    3. Thus, Potential/Possibility formed all possible arrangements of the actual.
....a. This occurs in the next logically deduced dimension, that of all possible universes. It is as the Library of Babel that contains all possible books.
....b. Possibility was unconstrained, being lawless, formless, and timeless, etc.
....c. Time is a way of preventing things from happening all at once.
....d. Possibility of Potential followed all evolutions of forms and laws at once.
....e. There could have been no foresight; just the brute force of all possible paths being followed. This is the How of existence.
....f. (Note: A Great Mind would not have been fundamental, being only of its more basic parts.)
....g. A kind of a living cousin of this Possibility/Potential is the quantum realm in which a particle ‘exists’ everywhere but nowhere in particular.
....h. It was the “something” of Possibility/Potential that just IS/WAS, it needing nothing ‘before’ it but itself. No bottomless stack of turtles is required. The no-thing of Possibility is not a ‘nothing’. he dark alleys lead us here.

    4. Our universe is just one of those arrangements that evolved further.
....a. The handful of finely-tuned universal constants and the ‘lucky’ accidents of evolution were the destiny of a universe guaranteed to work as projected in the realm of possibility.
....b. Other universes worked, too, as well as many that flopped.
....c. Who knows if the universe is cyclical or a one way trip!
....d. There is no right or wrong about our universe; it’s just one of many. The information content of Everything is a big zero.

    5. (Optional) Mammal consciousness brought the potential into the actual, everywhere, real-izing it, in many little ‘bangs’, and so there are no other universes, nor ET life anywhere.
....a. It just seems that all possible universes going actual would need a heck of a lot of material, but perhaps this is all at no cost to the ‘free lunch’.
....b. (Or, if not all possible universes, very many bubbled up.)
....c.. The wave function goes all the way up, even through and past humans, up to the entire universe. Then, boom, conscious observation made it so, the wave function of the universe collapsing into the real!

    6. Movement (time) of appearances (What) through space (Where) grants us our being (Who).
....a. Memory and anticipation arise from time’s Then, Now, and When.
....b. Structure arises from What and Where.

    7. Since we evolved to depend on the real, all must truly be real and not virtual, as in a dream, but whatever works as real is real, the implementation not even mattering, for a difference that makes no difference is no difference, and thus is no distinction. The message is not the messenger.

    8. This Super TOE, however likely, can never be proved, as the origin is done for and gone, nor can any other Super TOE, but this fact is useful, for then we know that we are free to be.

    9. Being free to be, with no strings attached, one may dispense with all pseudosciences purporting to know All, especially those which prescribe what one must do, such as relinquishing the self, for example.

    10. Celebrate life. Love it; live it. You won the lottery. Existence precedes essence in its importance, however and whyever this life was thrust upon us. This is one of the best of all possible worlds. The universe is not about you, but you are about you.

    — Coming Full Circle —

    Searching for the ultimate happenstance—
Of how we began, leads to exploration
    Of within and without, a rewarding quest;
Upon return, we know the place for the first time.

    Hi Austin;

You have some pretty powerful thoughts. Your questions are valid and you MAY be correct.

So what is your fundamental SUBSTANCE. And how did it come to be? And is it eternal or is it not?

    Best,

    Pat

    Re: Austin's Super TOE

Substance was created by Possibility. Possibility is the only 'thing' that can be eternal, but more like it just is, for from it came forth time, physical laws, and forms in the varying bubbles of many universes, one of which, for sure, worked in the sense that it brought forth life.

Possibility was the open-ended and unconstricted state of Everything before things. Sounds strange, but that's where we are led by the constraints that we see about us.

    Hey Austin:

A philosopher of the highest order you are! Your address at the end says it all. The idea of a conscious universe gives me some comfort, and I think your ideas contribute to such ponderences.

    Cool stuff,

You helped it, Jack, for you showed that the wave function goes all the way up, even through and past humans, up to the entire universe. Then, boom, conscious observation made it so, the wave function of the universe collapsing into the real, perhaps even now feeding back into itself somehow, giving it even more focus and definition—or from whatever of the same that came from the future projected.

We are going where no man has gone before: to the ladies room.

Steven Weinberg, in his "Search for a final Theory," says that the wave function that you describe is necessary to solve the quantum dilema. It certainly seems to. Waves may not be the domain of just moving things, but an intrinsic behaviour of all things, either at rest or moving.

I'm going in May....to see how it all started for the young Kirk.

    Pandora
    by Micha F. Lindemans
In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman on earth. Zeus ordered Hephaestus, the god of craftsmanship, to create her and he did, using water and earth. The gods endowed her with many talents; Aphrodite gave her beauty, Apollo music, Hermes persuasion, and so forth. Hence her name: Pandora, "all-gifted".

When Prometheus stole fire from heaven, Zeus took vengeance by presenting Pandora to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother. With her, Pandora had a jar which she was not to open under any circumstance. Impelled by her natural curiosity, Pandora opened the jar, and all evil contained escaped and spread over the earth. She hastened to close the lid, but the whole contents of the jar had escaped, except for one thing which lay at the bottom, and that was Hope.

    Hi Austin;

I'm all for probability theory being an underlying law of our universe, but I don't know how it can create anything only that it allows for the possibility of creation.

    Re: Austin's Super TOE

We can't know Everything, Prof, as you say. We can only suspect based on what else we see going on or not possible.

As for possibility and possibility of a wave function collapsing based on observation by consciousness, we don't even know that for sure. Could a cat do it, too, the one that is neither alive nor dead? Perhaps it is just nature that does it, for example, the air and the sunshine brings the tree into existence out of its wave function.

Knowing that we can't know all is a valuable insight, which is not that easy to know since the mind/brain so much wants to know everything, for that is its function. Thus, the often pretension of some to claim to know all when their mind/brain insists on filling in the gaps.
